VALORANT Champions Shanghai is solidly in the Group Stage, and teams are facing off in some of the season’s most intense matches. However, mouse and input issues started popping up on Day 1 and Day 2, leading to problems for players. VCT competitive authorities have now confirmed the situation is solved and commented on the cause. Here’s everything to know.

Players Experience Mouse and Input Problems at Champions Shanghai

VALORANT Champions 2026 is finally here, and we’re already several days into the tournament. There’s plenty to keep track of as the title’s strongest teams power through its Group Stage.

So far, viewers have seen Paper Rex start off strong against Team Liquid. Karmine Corp is enjoying their first appearance at Champs, handing XLG a loss, and G2 Esports is continuing its consistent legacy. Defending champions NRG also popped off against NS RedForce, proving that the potential for a repeat is still alive.

trexx, Francis, and LewN Speak About the Issues

While most of the event is running smoothly, several teams started experiencing mouse and input issues on Day 1 and Day 2. Team Liquid trexx, NS RedForce Francis, and Karmine Corp LewN were among those affected.

Francis stated that he was “personally disappointed that I couldn’t properly showcase my skills in a tournament with such tremendous significance due to mouse and PC issues.” trexx called the situation “crazy.”

LewN was among the lucky players who escaped problems, since he had packed a spare mouse.

Reportedly, all three of these players were sitting on the same side of the Champions Shanghai stage.

Paper Rex Assistant Coach Wendler confirmed, however: “Both sides on stage are affected by the mouse tech issues. Its not a “one seat/one player” situation.

Issue isnt PC related, seems to be more tied to all the tech in the arena disrupting. Its happened at past internationals, you just dont see teams publically commenting on it.“

Riot Games Addresses the Issue

The official VALORANT Champions Tour X.com account swiftly issued a statement about the problems. Competitive authorities had also identified a cause: the specific metal in players’ desks was creating conductivity and scrambling signals.

“Earlier today, our technical teams identified the source of the mouse and input problems players experienced on stage at Champions Shanghai.

The cause was conductivity issues from the material of the desks. A fix was implemented, and we did not experience any further disruption during pre-match tech checks or the matches.

Competitive integrity comes first. We’ll continue monitoring throughout the event and will share further updates if needed.”

Riot Games’ Head of VALORANT Esports and VCT Commissioner Leo Faria also stepped in. “After much investigation we’ve found that some specific metal components on the construction of the desks were causing the mouse interference issues,” he confirmed. “We’ve implemented a temporary fix and are rebuilding the desks entirely. No issues on day 3 and hopefully no more moving forward.”
