G2 has had some strong moments this League of Legends season. The lineup, including BrokenBlade (top), SkewMond (jungle), Caps (mid), Hans Sama (bot), and Labrov (support), scored first-place trophies at LEC Versus and LEC Spring 2026. They also caught international attention with a 2nd-place finish at First Stand and a 4th-place spot at MSI, proving their record isn’t exclusive to the EMEA battlefield.

Now, the org is capping it off with a solid LEC 2026 win. On September 20, the roster defeated Movistar KOI 3:0 in a best-of-5. It was an absolute sweep, with G2 showing up in top form and significantly gapping their opponents. The level of domination was largely a surprise to viewers, especially because MKOI had just dealt their own 3:0 blow to Karmine Corp.

Hans Sama and Labrov had particularly strong performances. In Game 2, the entire team was in their element. Hans Sama’s Yunara packed plenty of damage, while Labrov assist farmed on Lulu. We saw BrokenBlade’s trademark Kled top return, and Caps’ Akali was another point of praise for viewers. The mid-laner’s LEC Summer final arrives shortly after his Hall of Legends induction.

Labrov earned MVP status for his performance, reiterating his confidence in G2’s ability to reach the top placements at Worlds 2026. The Support only caught two deaths during the entire three-game series.

The win arrives shortly after G2’s qualification to Worlds 2026. To celebrate, the roster had shaved their heads. It seems like the bald buff may be real indeed if this win is anything to go by. It’s the conclusion of a strong upper bracket run, and G2 has notably only dropped a single game in the LEC Summer 2026 Playoffs (to Karmine Corp). G2’s performance has also been quite consistent in the Regular Season, with a 6-3 overall record.

What’s Next? Worlds 2026

With their LEC standings locked in, G2 is headed straight to Worlds 2026. The event will start on October 15, spanning a month until the November 14 Grand Final.

There will be stiff competition: Karmine Corp, which scored 3rd place in the LEC, has qualified for the first time in the organization’s history. MKOI will also be back for blood, with the possibility of a rematch looming on the horizon.

Plus, that’s not even counting the international contenders. Bilibili Gaming, Hanwha Life Esports, Dplus KIA, and GEN.G are just a few of the other powerhouses getting ready to attend. T1 is on a three-year Worlds win streak, with Faker leading the charge towards another possible trophy. That said, the org has not been in its best shape this season, and some sloppy moments have esports fans questioning if a new team could topple the T1 dynasty.

G2 also notably eliminated T1 from the MSI earlier this year, sparking conversation about whether the gap between Western and LCK performance is narrower than we thought. Only one LEC team has ever won Worlds (FNATIC in 2011), and that was over a decade ago. A follow-up remains a distant possibility, but the standings have risen enough this year to keep the LCK greats on their toes.
