After G2 exited Worlds 2026, head coach Perkz made a social media post that stirred netizen discussion. G2 has now terminated his contract, citing the controversy as the reason. Here’s a recap of the situation.

G2 Terminates Head Coach Perkz

On November 5, 2026, G2 Esports announced it is terminating its agreement with League of Legends head coach Luka ‘Perkz’ Perković. The decision arrives following a controversial post Perkz made on his official social media account, causing netizen conversation.

Perkz, who represented G2 as a player from 2015-2020 and returned to the org in 2025, had entered a coaching position in July. He led the team through its Worlds 2026 run, which concluded after Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) eliminated them in the Swiss Stage.

G2’s CEO, Alban Dechelotte, released a statement regarding the move:

“Last night, like many of you, we saw the statement shared by the Head Coach of one of our teams.
G2 is a diverse and international organization with different people from all around the world. While the world is complex and not everyone agrees on everything, some of the statements made last night do not align with G2’s stance and values. We have fans with different cultures and personal opinions, and it is of the utmost importance to us as an organisation that we respect and uphold this diversity when representing G2. We acknowledge that this statement hurt many of our fans, and we want to apologize for it.

As a result, we have decided to terminate our collaboration with the individual. We will now focus on rebuilding our staff and roster for the next season and ask for your patience, as we will not be able to communicate any changes until free agency officially opens.”

The post has since received over 1.8 million views and over 25,000 likes, going viral.

G2 Perkz Controversy: The Full Statement

The night before G2 terminated him, Perkz had made an in-depth post on X.com. It earned over 4.4 million views, going beyond the League sphere and causing significant community discussion.

Perkz’ statement, arriving shortly after the team’s Worlds 2026 exit, contained comments about Andrew Tate, former G2 CEO Carlos ‘Ocelote’ Rodriguez, international conflicts, and abortion.

“Hello! A tweet bomb is ready,” he began, before explaining that he would make a “first and last honest post” addressing several controversies from his career.

“I’m gonna write these things not because I want to be loved and adored by lot, but because I do not want people who have supported me, get distorted views on who I am, defending myself against unjustified accusations, narratives and stories that are not just NOT true, but also completely wrong and go against everything that I believe and stand in as a person.

If I knew that this would blow up so much, I would’ve addressed it a long time ago. I’m writing it so that at the very least you can hate me for what I really stand for and then that’s completely fine by me.”

The first main paragraph speaks about Perkz’ early career. He describes becoming adjusted to the spotlight and receiving hate comments from social media. Perkz called his time on Team Vitality ‘pretty miserable’ and said he had experienced mental health struggles during his LEC prime. He says he believes Caps was the only player more dedicated than him at this time, and mentions his rivalry with Rekkles.

G2 Perkz Addresses the Andrew Tate Controversy

After that, Perkz spoke about his online footprint. Netizens had noticed his Twitter feed liking posts by controversial figure Andrew Tate, who has since been arrested. Perkz wrote:

“It would appear that liking literally a few Tate memes back in the day [..] when twitter likes were visible, created a small bubble of narratives and hatred that apparently grew a lot bigger and a lot stronger […] The lengths humans will go to literally hate somebody, while flashing their virtue values about so many TOPICS! Is insanely baffling to me.”

He then clarified:

“I don’t like, support, or stand with [the] Tates. I hate most of the things they say […], dislike their views of life, they are just fake and also bought by the same matrix they are ”escaping”, hypocritical behaviors and statements, wrongful teachings to younglings about women. And many more things that really disgusted me about them.

I did like a few memes […] and joked as people do, and most of your beloved and most cherished pro players did as well, as it was a big topic back in the days. We love to meme and talk about everything that’s meta, just like every group of guys do with their friends.”

The G2 Ocelote Resignation Controversy

In September 2022, Carlos “Ocelote” Rodríguez resigned as G2’s CEO after posting a video with Andrew Tate. At the time, Perkz had made statements defending Rodriguez, which he also brought up in his current post.

Perkz said, “Me standing up for Carlos publicly when he was being cancelled has nothing to with all the things I’m all accused of supporting. […] Carlos believed in me when nobody else did, I did not have a close relationship with my family when I was 16, including my parents I was not too close with either.”

Perkz then called Ocelote a ‘coward,’ saying they were no longer close and had drifted apart.

Perkz Statements on Religion, Politics, and Abortion

After his comments regarding Ocelote, Perkz included several paragraphs about his religion, world politics, and his stance on abortion. He wrote that he had become more religious as a Catholic in recent years.

Perkz stated “I don’t really do politics, nor have I even ever voted once in my life. I do have opinions and I wish I was more educated on the topic, but the truth is I’m not so I stay away from it.”

In the same paragraph, he continued:

“The only thing that is unshakeable for me how its so widely accepted in public is abortion, I cannot comprehend how people do not understand that is a murder […] That is one view I will die by and never change. […] I don’t like Trump or Kamala, honestly both are pretty f–ing bad and horrible choices to be rulers of the most powerful country in the world.”

Perkz also wrote about Russia, Israel, and Palestine (saying “I do not support war”) before ending with:

“I don’t like pop songs nor mainstream media. I think there is no need to go into more details, you can paint the picture you want now.”

Sjokz Reaction

Eefje ‘Sjokz’ Depoortere, a longtime League of Legends caster and analyst, responded to Perkz’ takes on her own account.

“Sometimes saying nothing is better than saying something,” she said.

Community Reactions

G2’s fans vary in their views. The team did receive some backlash for the firing from netizens who argued Perkz was being terminated for religious or political reasons. However, the community largely commented that Perkz’ remarks were unprofessional, with some users calling it a ‘PR disaster.’

Redditor u/FriendlyGhostLady wrote, “I’m not even gonna comment on his personal views or whatever here, but let’s be honest: posting this at that time was an absolutely disastrous PR disaster for G2. At the end of the day, they are still an org who have to keep face and try not to alienate fans […] any players’/coach’s personal views should be kept for themselves and not aired out as dirty laundry. Plus morale for the whole team was already at the lowest point, instread of supporting them he did a ‘me, me, me’ post.”

The user called the termination ‘deserved for not protecting the interests of G2 and adding unneeded drama.’

Another reaction that caught heavy attention came from @SoSleeplessss, who questioned Perkz’ posting spree and its relationships to G2’s Worlds 2026 performance.

After a relatively strong MSI performance earlier this year, where G2 eliminated LCK powerhouse T1 from the tourney, the org’s standings have declined. G2 exited Worlds after losing to HLE in the Swiss Stage, scoring 11th/12th and finishing behind Karmine Corp and LYON.

An X.com user @SeppLoL wrote, “I dont care what who how or what someones politics are, you are entitled to your own opinion and you dont need to justify it on social media. GL next season and much respect.”

Some netizens are comparing the G2 Perkz controversy to fellow pro Bwipo’s situation. The toplaner was suspended from FlyQuest in late 2025 after statements about female players.

Perkz’ exit from the G2 roster occurs as jungler SkewMond will also soon depart, according to Sheep Esports reports. G2 will significantly restructure its lineup for the 2027 season.
