The G2 Perkz Controversy Explained: Head Coach Terminated
As Worlds 2026 continues, G2 has terminated head coach and former player Perkz following a controversial social media post. Here’s a recap.
SkewMond is reportedly leaving G2’s active LEC roster for 2027 despite a deal until 2028. Lyncas is tipped to replace him.

SkewMond is reportedly leaving G2’s active LEC roster for 2027.
G2 Esports jungler Rudy “SkewMond” Semaan is reportedly not going to be part of the team’s active League of Legends European Championship (LEC) roster for 2027, even though his contract runs until November 20, 2028.
According to a report by Sheep Esports, SkewMond is expected to move to G2 Esports’ inactive roster, meaning he would stay under contract but would not play for the main team. Reports also claim that G2 Esports refuses to release him for free. Instead, the organisation is reportedly seeking a buyout fee
A buyout in esports is a fee that one team (or occasionally the player) pays to another team to terminate a player’s existing contract early, freeing the player to join a new organization. Buyouts protect the investment teams make in players and prevent other organizations from simply poaching talent without compensation. They are especially common in major regions like the LEC, LCS, LCK, and LPL.
However, it’s worth noting that neither G2 Esports nor the player has officially confirmed the news as of publication.
SkewMond signed an extension with G2 Esports in February 2026. His previous deal was set to end in November 2026, and the new one runs until November 20, 2028. That long contract is why G2 Esports can ask for money in exchange for letting him go.
The reports point to G2 Esports’ disappointing result at the 2026 World Championship. The team was knocked out of the Swiss Stage with a 1-3 record, losing to Dplus KIA, Top Esports and Hanwha Life Esports. Its only win was against LOS.
That exit came after a dominant domestic year, so the change appears to be part of an early offseason rebuild. It is the second reported change after Patrick “Pad” Suckow-Breum joined the organization as Strategic Coach.
Sheep Esports later reported that Linas “Lyncas” Nauncikas, currently with Team Vitality, is set to join G2 Esports as its jungler for 2027. Lyncas is Lithuanian and around 22 years old. He would reunite with Pad, who coached him at Vitality and earlier.
Lyncas is expected to become a free agent around late November 2026. Several teams were reportedly interested, including Vitality, GIANTX, Heretics and Fnatic. He had solid individual results with Vitality, including a Spring All-Pro Third Team selection, though the team underperformed in the playoffs.
Early reports also mentioned Yike or talents from European regional leagues as possible options. However, Lyncas is reported to be the preference.
SkewMond has yet to confirm his next team. However, Fnatic, Karmine Corp, Vitality, GIANTX, SK Gaming and Shifters have emerged as potential destinations, as they may be looking to fill their jungler positions.
If G2 refuses to sell him to a direct European rival, a move outside Europe, such as to the LCS in North America, has been speculated. One unconfirmed report also mentioned a high-priced approach from Shopify Rebellion that was reportedly declined.
