VCT Pacific is assembling a team of six pros to solve a VALORANT murder mystery. Let’s explore everything to know about ‘Trace of Summit.’

What is Trace of Summit? VALORANT Murder Mystery

On July 17, 2026, VALORANT‘s VCT Pacific circuit revealed a new mystery activity: Trace of Summit. In the challenge, six VCT Pacific players will play detective, uncovering a VALORANT round. The official announcement describes ‘Trace of Summit’ as “A set filled with clues, a round waiting to be reconstructed, and six perspectives trying to find one truth.”

The video will take place on a real-life model of VALORANT’s newest map, Summit. It features pros from Paper Rex, Gen.G, DRX, and more regional teams. Eagle-eyed fans have already noticed that the participants include:

  • Rex Regum Qeon crazyguy
  • Gen.G t3xture
  • DetonatioN FM akame
  • DRX HYUNMIN
  • PRX d4v41
  • Full Sense Crws

The group will search the battlefield for clues to figure out exactly what happened and reverse-engineer the matchup. They use tipped-over traffic cones, mannequins, and other items on the set to represent in-game actions. There are smokes, flashes, and even what appears to be a real-life Cypher cam involved.

In the video, watchers can hear the pros saying: “This is f—ing hard. This is driving me crazy,” as they puzzle over the mystery. They chat about whether a player clutched, which routes entry players took, and where the teams started.

Netizens seem excited about ‘Trace of Summit’. YouTube user @SyldiaSally16 wrote, “detective work on my fav VCT channel was not what I expected, but it’s a gift, I guess.” Another commenter, @shibatarian1, questioned: “What is this Netflix production?”

Is ‘Trace of Summit’ a Series?

We don’t know yet if Trace of Summit is a recurring series, or even how long the video drop will be. However, the announcement is notably close to another recent Riot Games development: League of Legends star Faker is starring in a Disney+ show with a very similar premise.

The series, called ‘Murder Club,’ is premiering on July 29, 2026. In it, Korean celebrities work together to re-enact crimes and identify the perpetrator in each scenario. It went viral on social media, especially since it is one of the first times a major esports athlete has acted on or made a regular appearance in a variety show.

VCT Pacific seems to be hopping on that wave, and an FPS map certainly makes a unique setting. It’s possible that VALORANT could recreate the setup on other maps like Ascent, Haven, and Split if the original ‘Trace of Summit’ is successful. Even if this turns out to just be a one-off skit, it’s a change of pace from the competitive season as we wait for VCT Stage 2 to progress.

How to Watch Trace of Summit

Trace of Summit will be available on the official VCT Pacific YouTube channel, located here: @VCTPacific. The broadcast will drop on Monday, July 20, 2026.

What Does This Mean for VALORANT Esports?

Esports has come a long way from its LAN party roots, and nowhere is that more obvious than pro gamers now sharing the screen with celebrities and athletes on variety shows. Competitive players are now entering genuine pop culture territory. The crossover into entertainment says a lot about how far the scene has come, and how mainstream society is starting to see esports on the same level as traditional athletics.

In addition, these external ventures are receiving viewer engagement. This shows that fans are also interested in their favorite esports players as influencers. Netizens want to follow the lore of their favorite players and teams beyond the digital battlefield.
