Global Esports Qualifies for its First VALORANT Champions

VCT Pacific team Global Esports has had a wild year. After roster reshuffles and a risky head coach transfer, the org’s moves have just paid off with its first-ever Champions qualification. Let’s recap.

Global Esports Qualifies to Champions Shanghai 2026

Throughout the 2026 VALORANT season, Global Esports has made headlines. The team made several risky moves this past year: in December 2025, it signed former Paper Rex star PatMen and two other core players, completely shaking up its roster before competition began. In addition, GE famously released head coach Hector “FrosT” Rosario mid-season. The decision had netizens questioning, since FrosT had been instrumental in the roster’s Masters London qualification, and sparked significant X.com banter.

Now, it seems like GE is leaving doubters in the dust. As VCT Pacific comes to a close, Global Esports has just secured its first-ever VALORANT Champions qualification through Champions Points. The org will appear at Shanghai later in the year, meeting PatMen’s former team PRX and other competitors there.

GE’s roster, including Kr1stal, UdoTan, autumn, xavi8k, and PatMen, accomplished the feat after three seasons of VCT play. The Indian org climbed its way up from the Challengers circuit in 2022, so it has now fully ascended the ecosystem.

On its official X.com account, Global Esports wrote:

“2026 has been a year of many firsts. A lot of ups and downs, a lot of sacrifices, and a lot of hard work has resulted in this. For those who have stuck by us since Day 0 and to those who joined us on this beautiful journey, this one is for you. Finally, we can say, WE ARE HEADED TO [CHAMPIONS] SHANGHAI!”

What Does This Mean for the Team?

There’s some stiff competition at Champions Shanghai 2026. Paper Rex, for example, has long dominated the Pacific VALORANT sphere, cruising through international titles and performing consistently as an analyst favorite. However, they notoriously choke at the final stretch, barely missing out on 1st-placements. PRX has not yet won a Champions, but they’re hungry for it: this will be one of the teams to beat. G2 Esports is another name to watch after last year’s impressive three-peat performance. NRG, too, is the tournament’s reigning victor, and is coming back for more with a 2026 team slot.

All that said, Global Esports’ Champions appearance has added to its upward trajectory this year and proven naysayers wrong. The team is making a name for itself in VCT Pacific and beyond, growing from Challengers origins into a key Tier 1 figure.

Its Champs performance remains to be seen. However, GE has reached the VCT Pacific Finals, beating opponents like DRX and VARREL to progress. Currently, the team rests in the Lower-Bracket finals. If it wins a September 5 match with T1, it will have a chance to rematch Nongshim RedForce in the Grand Final, possibly winning it all.
