Case opening sites copy Valve's loot boxes with three differences: the odds are published, the prices are set by the site, and what you unbox can be withdrawn to Steam or sold for balance. Which site is best depends on the price tier you open at, because the return varies more by tier than by site.
How case returns work
Every case has an expected value: the sum of each item's price times its drop chance. The house edge is the gap between that value and the case price. A $1 case with an expected value of $0.90 has a 10% edge.

How to work out a case's expected value
Multiply each item's value by its drop chance and add them up. Compare the total with the case price: the gap is the edge. Our case opening guide has a full worked example. If a site doesn't list drop chances that add up to 100%, you can't do this calculation, which is a reason to open elsewhere.
Case battles
In a battle, two to four players open the same cases and the highest total value takes all the items. Battles carry the edge of the cases inside them, so the format changes who wins, not the average loss. Crazy mode, where the lowest total wins, is offered on Datdrop and others.

Case opening and spending limits
Case openings are quick and visual, which makes overspending easy. Set a budget before you start and stick to cases whose expected value you've checked.
Case opening odds by rarity
Most sites mirror CS2's rarity tiers in their drop tables, though each site sets its own percentages.

Fractions of a percent
The exact percentages are on each case page. A case that looks generous because it contains a knife can still have a poor expected value if the knife's drop chance is tiny and the rest of the table is filler.
How to compare two cases
1. Note each case's price.
2. Add up item value × drop chance for each to get the expected value.
3. Divide expected value by price to get the return; higher is better.
4. Check the spread: a case with the same return but more mid-value items will feel less punishing.
Budget and session tips
Decide a session budget and a stop point before you open anything.
Open free cases first.
Prefer cases with published odds and a return you've checked.
Avoid "just one more" after a big win; the next open has the same odds.
Withdraw or sell skins you want to keep instead of re-opening them.
Case opening and minors
Every site we review requires users to be 18 and verifies age before withdrawals. Skin gambling has drawn regulator attention because of its popularity with younger players; if you're a parent, Steam's family settings can restrict trading and market access.
Questions
Which CS2 case opening site has the best odds?
Based on published odds, Clash.gg returned the most on cheap and premium cases. All sites listed publish per-item odds.
Are case opening sites rigged?
Sites on this page publish seeds you can verify and odds that add up to 100%. Our guide to [how case opening works](/betting/skins/guides/how-case-opening-works/) explains the check.
Which case sites give free cases?
Farmskins and Clash.gg give daily cases without a deposit; most others offer them after sign-up or by level.
What's the expected value of a case?
The sum of each item's value multiplied by its drop chance. Compare it with the case price to find the edge.
Are case battles better value than opening alone?
No; they carry the edge of the cases inside them. They change who wins, not the average loss.
What do the rarity colours mean?
They mirror CS2's tiers, from grey consumer-grade items up to red covert skins and gold knives and gloves.
