The newest VALORANT update is here, and it’s buffing several underappreciated Duelists while adding serious counterplay opportunities against the fearsome Outlaw. In addition, VALORANT Patch 13.01 is rolling out anti-boosting measures and a new Discord partnership. Let’s explore everything to know.

VALORANT Patch 13.01 is significantly buffing Iso and Yoru, two of the game’s weakest Duelists. Iso’s Double-Tap will now immediately re-equip his weapon after activating, enabling him to take quicker duels and outplay enemies. Yoru’s Gatecrash and Fakeout abilities will become much more convincing, and his teleport time window will increase by a sizable amount.
The Outlaw became one of VALORANT’s fiercest weapons, offering a solid half-buy option that packs tons of damage. The sniper is getting a serious nerf in VALORANT Patch 13.01, which will increase its recovery time, spread size, and recoil. These changes will not affect the Outlaw’s first shot: they are intended to make the weapon less effective over time, offering more counterplay so team members can effectively trade.

On July 14, 2026, Riot Games announced new, stricter penalties for players who boost VALORANT accounts. The studio stated, “We are rolling out a new detection today that allows us to precisely target boosters and related behavior.“
Riot Games clarified: “This is not about stopping people from playing with their friends. […] As long as you are playing on your own, unshared account, and you haven’t intentionally tanked your rank to get into easier lobbies and are disrupting or manipulating ranks for your own or others’ gains, you are good to go.“
The punishments also span win-trading, where players coordinate to intentionally lose, and stream sniping, where players cheat by watching an enemy’s livestream.

VALORANT has announced a new partnership with Discord, allowing users to connect their accounts for social features and rewards. Here’s a quick summary of what players can expect:
Notably, this feature will not launch until Tuesday, July 21st.
Since Iso and Yoru have both received significant buffs, their pick rates in pro play will probably increase. According to the stat-tracking site tracker.gg, both Duelists had two of the lowest win rates in the game before Patch 13.01, with Yoru’s dwindling to just 47.4%. This means they were typically neglected in team comps, and top-tier tournaments were no exception.
Yoru and Iso can be good situationally (Yoru is great on Abyss, where he can easily jump off the map and teleport back for easy A-main info). However, they struggle to create consistent impact in lobbies. It’s uncertain if the Patch 13.01 changes will elevate them to Tier 1 status, but they will certainly become more popular.
Phoenix, Neon, Jett, and Raze dominated most matchups in recent events. Take the 2026 VALORANT Esports World Cup as an example: every single Playoff game included one of these four Agents. A Phoenix/Neon combo is particularly powerful, since it lets players dump tons of entry utility on opponents. Both Agents are great on VALORANT’s newest map, Summit, and the duo includes an engagement duelist (Phoenix) and a movement duelist (Neon).
