As the League of Legends 2026 Esports World Cup progresses, fans are seeing more plot twists. Karmine Corp has just eliminated T1 from the main bracket: here’s everything to know.

Karmine Corp Has Defeated T1 in the EWC

Rosters:

  • T1: Doran (Top), Oner (Jungle), Faker (Mid), Peyz (Bot ADC), Keria (Support
  • Karmine Corp: Canna (Top), Yike (Jungle), kyeahoo (Mid), Caliste (Bot ADC), Busio (Support)

Karmine Corp just pulled off a massive upset at the 2026 Esports World Cup, defeating T1 2-1 in the League of Legends semifinals. After entering the series as underdogs against T1’s stacked roster, things originally looked bleak. The Korean powerhouse team appeared to have an advantage early, securing Game 1 in 32 minutes. Fans noticed a strong performance from toplaner Doran, who diffed Canna on Shyvana. Oner also impressed here, going 7/0/11 on Xin Zhao. T1 continued its tried-and-true snowballing strategy, pushing for a Baron teamfight that established a clear gold lead and quickly cinched the matchup.

In Game 2, though, Karmine Corp responded with resilience. Canna (on Rumble) turned the tides on Doran here, leaving him with 0 kills on Ambessa. KC‘s botlane absolutely dominated, with Busio zooming around the map on Bard and grabbing as many kills as Caliste’s Ezreal. It was like watching two ADCs instead of one.

Game 3 was a much closer battle. T1′s early game was cleaner, and Faker impressed on Ryze. The team was picking off objectives easily. However, they became complacent. Karmine Corp found an opening with a critical Dragon teamfight, beginning a comeback. T1’s composure began to crumble. The team relied on Doran and Oner to fend off KC’s pick attempts, but couldn’t stop the momentum. Busio attracted attention again here, with 21 assists on Milio. After a final decisive teamfight, KC pushed forward to victory.

What’s Next for Karmine Corp? 2026 LoL Esports World Cup Finals

Karmine Corp’s win against T1 has punched their ticket to the EWC Finals. The organization will face off against either Gen.G or Dplus Kia (whoever wins the Lower Bracket Semifinals).

An EWC win would be significant for Dplus, since the team has encountered recent discussion from the community. It is currently resolving payment delays, with some roster members over one month behind in pay, and seeking new ownership. Alongside a trophy, the EWC LoL tournament boasts a 600,000 USD Grand Prize.

What Does This Mean for European LoL?

Karmine Corp is the last European League of Legends team standing in the Esports World Cup. This is extra significant because the tournament takes place in France, the team’s own home country. Enthusiasm in Paris’ Expo Porte de Versailles venue is high, with locals cheering for KC.

After performing strongly throughout the 2025 and 2026 LEC seasons, KC was clearly a consistent threat in its region. However, the org is now proving it can stand head-to-head with LCK teams as well, a region that has consistently dominated League of Legends international competition.

Currently, no non-Korean or non-Chinese team has ever claimed the Esports World Cup LoL title. Karmine Corp is now one step closer to breaking that barrier. In addition, only one European team has ever won Worlds (FNATIC in 2011).

This kind of upset win has happened before, but Karmine Corp’s Grand Final progression also occurs shortly after G2 Esports knocked T1 out of the Mid-Season Invitational. This is a string of European LoL victories over powerhouse teams in a very short time frame, leading some community members to wonder if the trend will continue.

What Does This Mean for T1?

T1 will compete in the EWC’s 3rd-place decider match, leaving the tourney in either 3rd or 4th place. Either scoreline is a respectable exit, but many T1 fans feel the organization has slipped from its consistent form in recent months.

Typically, T1 reaches the Grand Finals or Semifinals of its international tourneys. The team is on a three-year Worlds win streak, and holds the most Worlds trophies of any League organization. After G2 eliminated T1 from MSI, they finished 5th/6th. T1 apologized to its community for the performance, saying “we’re left with regrets.” Netizens dissected the matches to find out what exactly went wrong, with some pushing for roster changes and strategy re-evaluations.

T1 is under a lot of pressure, and its winning streak brings high expectations. Can it keep up its superhuman performance in the face of a constantly changing industry?
