Fnatic Misses LEC Playoffs, Won’t Qualify for Worlds 2026

Fnatic fans are having a tough season: the org will bow out of the LEC before Playoffs, and will not qualify for Worlds 2026 for the first time in ten years. The League competitive year conclusion occurs shortly after the VALORANT roster faced similar struggles, ending its five-year Champions streak. Here’s a recap.

Fnatic Eliminated from LEC Summer, Will Not Qualify for Worlds

The LEC is wrapping up, and seasonal standings are solidifying. At the top of the League of Legends list, Karmine Corp, Team Vitality, GIANTX, and G2 Esports are coasting into the Playoffs. Movistar KOI and Natus Vincere will meet them in the lower bracket. However, for the first time in LEC history, Fnatic has missed Summer split Playoffs qualification. This also means the org will not appear at Worlds 2026, marking the first time in ten years this has occurred.

Fnatic‘s final disqualification occurred after a matchup with GIANTX. The org ended its LEC Summer run with a 3-6 scoreline, barely missing the Playoffs threshold. Its current roster includes:

On its official account, Fnatic called the disqualification “A heartbreaking end to our 2026 season.” The team continued:

“It’s been a difficult year and it hurts to end it like this. As always, thank you for your unconditional support during this journey. We’ll see you again next year.”

Fnatic Will Not Qualify for Worlds or VALORANT Champions Shanghai in 2026

Fnatic has long been a mainstay in LEC and Worlds competition. With its Worlds 2011 win, Fnatic remains the only European team in history to have won a League of Legends World Championship. The last time Fnatic missed out on a Worlds event was ten years ago in 2016, and the org has appeared in 13 of the tournaments. This makes its failure to qualify in 2026 more disheartening for EMEA fans, who have long waited for a worthy opponent to battle with teams from the dominant LPL and LCK regions. After a decade of consistent performance, the team has slipped just below the cutoff.

Why is Fnatic struggling? The org’s rough 2026 season could be related to its serious roster overhauls. After a chaotic 2025 offseason, the team kept veterans Razork and Upset while adding mid laner Vladi and toplaner Empyros, hoping fresh faces would fix the problems from the year before. Instead, they struggled during the Spring split, and things never really turned around. The team swapped Empyros out for Soboro in mid-July to attempt another last-minute fix, but this didn’t help the existing team chemistry issues. The lineup just couldn’t build synergy on such short notice, and it showed in their scorelines.

Notably, Fnatic’s VALORANT team is facing a similar situation. 2026 will also be the first year in VCT history the org will not appear at VALORANT Champions. The team’s lineup, including well-known IGL Boaster, placed 11th-12th in EMEA Stage 2, ultimately facing elimination from VCL team Joblife.
