T1 Defeats FEARX, Advances in LCK Playoffs

Things are heating up in the LCK, and T1 has entered the Playoffs stage of its final season climb. The org just faced off against BNK FEARX, ending the series in a close 3-2 win after a last-minute comeback. Let’s recap.

T1 Wins First LCK Playoffs Match, Beats FEARX 3-2

On August 29, 2026, the LCK kicked off its first Playoffs match between T1 and FEARX. While T1 is continuing its path to another Worlds and striving to perform under growing fan pressure, FEARX is undergoing a gritty comeback arc and attempting to solidify its standings among the greats. The two League of Legends teams battled in a best-of-five matchup.

The first game was a T1 sweep, with Peyz’ Yunara standing out as a strong contributor. The team was in strong form here, with Faker and Keria popping off with the assists, and Doran’s Jayce pick put enemies into some tough positions.

However, the win lulled T1 into a false sense of security: Game 2 went to FEARX. Taeyoon excelled on Zeri, and Raptor’s Pantheon ran circles around Oner’s Nocturne in the Jungle. FEARX toplaner Clear got his get-back on Rumble, and Faker struggled to make an impact mid while VicLa comfortably farmed Ahri assists.

Game 3 was an even more distinct FEARX win. The team absolutely decimated T1, with Faker, Peyz, and Keria all ending the matchup without a single kill. Oner held his own on Naafiri, but it was not enough to change T1’s fate. Raptor’s Lee Sin kept his foot on the gas with tons of pressure, and Clear was once again chilling on Kled.

The clear defeat snapped T1 back into shape: Faker and the crew locked in for Game 4, narrowly turning the tide in a 42-minute match. Doran’s Nasus was instrumental here; he earned MVP honors after the series. He performed extremely well in the tough matchup, where his Nasus put some much-needed map pressure that helped the org pull ahead. T1 fans partially have him to thank for the recovery, as Doran’s Nexus push helped clutch up the game after several unsuccessful T1 teamfights.

After T1 regained their confidence, Game 5 was a much cleaner sweep. Doran continued to absolutely diff opponents on Kennen, gapping Clear’s farm by over 3k and bringing big team value. Oner and Faker didn’t die a single time, and Keria kept the assists coming on Renata Glasc.

Peyz scored a pentakill on Varus to close out Game 5, adding to his collection. He ended the matchup with an 11/3 scoreline and was one of T1’s strongest performers throughout the series. Peyz has consistently shown fans bright moments throughout the season, holding his own even during shakier games.

Ultimately, T1 secured a close victory, beating FEARX 3-2 and progressing to the next stage of the LCK Playoffs.

What Does This Mean for T1 and FEARX?

FEARX’s LCK run isn’t over yet. The team’s 3-2 loss will send them to the Playoffs’ lower bracket, where they will have their next matchup with either Dplus KIA or KT Rolster. The last org standing in the lower bracket will make it to the Grand Final. Plus, the top three LCK performers earn Worlds qualifications: the stakes are still high.

Throughout the past year, FEARX’s rankings have rubberbanded. They drastically improved from June 2025 to May 2026, catching worldwide notice when they placed 2nd at the LCK Cup. However, their global standing has once again dropped, reflecting inconsistent performance after the event.

Meanwhile, T1 is coming in hot off a 3-year Worlds win streak. With six titles total (the most of any organization), the pressure is on for Faker and the gang to continue their legacy. T1 has had some shakier moments this year (such as its early MSI elimination to G2, a European team, and its Esports World Cup 4th placement). Fans are watching to see if the roster can keep a cool head and remain consistent despite external stress and high expectations.
