After rumors earlier in the summer, new legal filings and leaks support the theory that K/DA (and potentially HEARTSTEEL) may be making a comeback this fall. Let’s recap the situation and everything we know.
League of Legends girl group K/DA stole hearts with its virtual debut in 2018. The band, featuring in-game Champions Ahri, Kai’Sa, Evelyn, and Akali, takes inspiration from real-life K-Pop bands. It was Riot’s first foray into a non-gaming-related League expansion, bringing in wild success that paved the way for other projects like HEARTSTEEL and Arcane.
While it started as a lighthearted collab, the K/DA fanbase evolved into something that could stand on its own. The group’s music is listenable (in the author’s opinion, dare I say good) and marketable. It brought together casual music enthusiasts and hardcore gamers, who still enjoy blasting the tunes while climbing the ranked ladder.

K/DA was a mainstay in the League universe for several years, going viral with songs like POP/STARS, VILLAIN, MORE, and THE BADDEST. The group’s Spotify is nearing 2 million monthly listeners, and POP/STARS has over 660 million views on YouTube. It helps that the team pulls talent from existing singers. Madison Beer, Jaira Burns, and Miyeon and Soyeon from G-IDLE have all popped up to lend a hand.
That said, K/DA hasn’t released any new music since 2020. While the hype hasn’t died down, it seems the girls are on hiatus (maybe they’re busy in a Baron teamfight or trying to find their roaming supports).
In early July 2026, however, rumors started to swirl about a comeback. These simply said a comeback would likely occur, but didn’t offer major updates.
For a while, we didn’t get any new information about the K/DA return. All this changed late into the evening on August 25, 2026, when a surprising legal filing seemed to reveal a possible new song.
Netizens noticed that a fresh document had appeared under the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) list. This legal organization works in the USA to make sure musicians, artists, and their collaborators receive appropriate royalty payments for the projects they participate in.
According to the legal filing, K/DA may release a song called ‘Watch Me’. We know the title from the top of the filing section. Five separate writers appear in the text. K/DA is also clearly visible as the ‘Performers’ of the track.
A legal filing just means that new music is definitely in the works; it doesn’t give us a concrete release date yet for the track. However, fans are speculating that K/DA’s return could occur sometime this fall, which would make sense because Worlds 2026 is coming up in October. The League team loves to release accompanying anthems for the event. For example, K/DA performed as part of the opening ceremony for the Worlds 2018 finals. Most leak accounts speculate they (and maybe HEARTSTEEL) will return before the end of the year.
In addition to the new song, leaks are popping up about fresh K/DA and HEARTSTEEL skins and merch. HEARTSTEEL is pretty much K/DA’s boy band equivalent. It includes Ezreal, K’Sante, Sett, Kayn, Aphelios, and Yone.
Apparently, the new K/DA skins will be called ‘Firestarter.’ The set will allegedly include cosmetics for Ahri, Akali, Evelynn, and Kai’Sa.
A HEARTSTEEL 2026 set is also potentially arriving, with skins for each of the group’s members. These leaks have been cross-posted from multiple sources, and many of them have been accurate in the past (for example, @LeagueOfLeaks). While HEARTSTEEL hasn’t made any music filings yet (that we know of), this is a good sign that the group’s story arc isn’t finished yet.
The merch set reportedly includes a new light stick: could a real-life K/DA tour be in the works? It resembles a kunai knife, part of Akali’s kit.
Plus, there are pins and collector’s boxes. The pins are probably the closest to K/DA’s upcoming skins, but it’s hard to make out exactly how they’ll look since the art styles are so different. ‘Firestarter’ as a theme gives high energy. There are probably brighter colors and warmer tones.
Stay tuned for more information as K/DA’s possible comeback draws closer.
