League of Legends girl group K/DA has transcended from a marketing stunt to a pop powerhouse group. After five years off the map, rumors say they might return later this year. Here’s everything we know about K/DA’s possible comeback, which could include new music, fresh skins, and solo songs.

K/DA in League of Legends

League of Legends‘ esports world is only one facet of the game. The community is also extremely enthusiastic about its lore, and each Champion on the rift has a unique aesthetic and backstory. Ahri, Akali, Evelyn, and Kai’Sa are some of the most popular, with fanbases to boot.

Once Riot Games identified how popular these four champions were in 2018, they took the logical next step and created a K/POP girl group called K/DA. The band exists as a separate concept in the League of Legends universe, and has distinct K-pop influences. Each Champion got a special in-game skin to match the group’s theme, and Riot partnered with real-world singers to record original songs for them. Star Madison Beer is one of the concept’s main artists.

Originally, K/DA was just a marketing gimmick, but their music resonated with the League fanbase, who enjoyed the project and began stanning the group. Each drop has hundreds of millions of views on YouTube, and the K/DA girls started getting recognition with actual music awards.

K/DA even has a Spotify page. “POP/STARS” is one of K/DA’s most popular tracks. However, the group has been on hiatus since 2020, with no new music for over 5 years.

Rumor Has It K/DA is Making a Comeback

On June 30, 2026, rumors began to swirl that K/DA is making a comeback. Notably, the reports came from two very different sources: League of Legends leak channels and the Madison Beer fanbase. Accounts including Madison Beer News and reputable leaker @LeagueofLeaks have corroborated them. The information stems from Chinese social media platforms, which are abuzz with the news.

A K/DA-specific fanpage, @kdabrasil, also claims that “Evelynn (Madison Beer) and Akali (Soyeon) will also get solo songs.

K/DA New Music, New K/DA Skins

This return will reportedly feature new music. K/DA will still have 4 members. Riot Games is allegedly ‘planning something big’ for their return. In addition, the K/DA girls can allegedly expect new in-game skins. With a revamped aesthetic and fresh tunes, it’s also very possible that K/DA could release a music video.

When Will K/DA Return in 2026?

K/DA will reportedly return sometime in November 2026. This would place the drop right around the Worlds 2026 Grand Final, which will take place in the United States. It would also coincide with the Season 3 update.

If the rumors are true, this wouldn’t be the first time Riot Games has made a major announcement during an esports event. The studio is known to reveal new Agents and maps during VALORANT tournaments. They revealed Summit at the VCT Masters London Grand Final. Riot also tends to release cosmetics during these periods: Broken Covenant Jhin is the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) 2026 partner skin.

Typically, this is a strong strategy because it links esports fans with casual League gamers. Viewership will increase as the community watches for reveals, and esports fans get a break from the intense competitive schedule.

Another strong point towards this return timeline is the fact that Riot likes to release music videos and collaborate with artists to celebrate esports tournaments. League of Legends is famous for dropping an ‘anthem’ theme song for every World Championship. In 2025, Chinese band G.E.M. featured in a song called ‘Sacrifice.’

What Does This Mean for League of Legends?

K/DA has left a real mark on League of Legends, becoming a lasting part of the game’s identity. The K/DA skins are still some of the most popular in League’s history, and the aesthetic has been expanded multiple times over the years. K/DA also helped push League of Legends further into mainstream pop culture, appealing to a new market of K-Pop fans. The project showed that expanding the League of Legends universe could be profitable, which set the precedent for future projects like Arcane.
