The Council will decide your fate: League Classic is adding a new voting feature, where players become responsible for the mode’s future. Here’s a quick explainer.
Since League Classic joined League of Legends in late July 2026, it has built up a sizable fanbase and brought nostalgia to plenty of players. After it became clear the game would stick around for a while, Riot began updating it: the second League Classic adjustment has just arrived in Patch 26.17.
The changes include a host of Champion adjustments, buffs, and nerfs. There are also some fresh features like more accurate art, removed rank borders, and pre-game champion and role swaps.
One of the most interactive new features is The Council, a survey system that lets League Classic players provide their input into the game’s future. The dev team wrote in a release, “our goal with these polls is to involve you, the community, in the direction that we take League Classic.“
Essentially, Riot will collect data from the questions to measure overall player sentiment and necessity for potential changes. Some example questions you can answer include:

The Council is built into the League Classic client as a feature. You don’t have to do anything specific to add it in, and it doesn’t require any downloads or in-game updates!
Once you enter the client, you can easily find the mechanic in a dedicated Council tab. Clicking on this tab will open up the survey, and you can complete it immediately within your game.
It’s important to note that The Council’s voting will only be active for a week. It opens on Wednesday, August 26, and closes on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
Yes, you can change your Council answers as long as the event is open. However, you can only vote once per question and complete the survey once overall. In addition, you can skip questions you aren’t sure about or don’t have a strong opinion on.
