Team Spirit is on a roll: on the same day it won its third DOTA 2 TI title, the Russian org has claimed another key Valve victory. After defeating FUT Esports, Spirit is now the Counter-Strike Esports World Cup champion. Let’s recap.

Team Spirit Wins the 2026 Counter-Strike Esports World Cup, Defeats FUT

After a best-of-5 matchup, Russian org Team Spirit has emerged as the 2026 Counter-Strike Esports World Cup winner. The roster defeated EMEA team FUT Esports 3-1, pulling ahead after two overtimes. Spirit will take home a sizable 600,000 USD prize, also claiming its spot as the third ever team to take the title.

Rosters

Team Spirit

  • donk
  • magixx
  • zont1x
  • sh1ro
  • tN1R

FUT Esports

  • dem0n
  • Krabeni
  • cmtry
  • dziugss
  • xfl0ud

FUT opened the series with a bold pick of Cache, a map they had never played with their current roster. Early on, this was effective, as they pushed to a 3-0 lead. However, Spirit answered back with strength, ending the first half with an even 6:6. Things were close, but FUT’s CT-side defense was solid, earning them the first win of the series. xfl0ud was menacing in duels, creating significant impact and scoring plenty of frags. Krabeni’s play was also impressive.

It was far too early to celebrate, though: Spirit locked in and refused to give FUT even one more point. The team started stacking rounds in the following maps, showing the composure that made them favorites coming in. Though Game 2 and Game 3 (on Anubis and Ancient respectively) were both overtimes, they resulted in resounding Team Spirit wins. Sh1ro showed his reliability with a clutch 1v2 retake that disrupted FUT’s tempo, among other key moments.

Team Spirit would only get more confident as the matchup continued. In Game 4 on Nuke, Spirit absolutely dominated the T-side with a 10-2 scoreline. Though FUT attempted to force aggressive plays and frags to keep Spirit on its toes, Spirit’s firepower proved superior. tN1R pulled through in important situations. Star player donk also caught viewer attention, with a massive 21-10 K/D in the final matchup. His impact was a major part of Team Spirit’s 13-5 Game 4 win, which ultimately landed them the tournament’s top spot.

Counter-Strike Esports Context

Team Spirit entered the EWC with a vengeance. The team is finishing the year as an analyst favorite after a string of impressive results. It notably reached the IEM Cologne Semifinals, and has also won PGL Astana. 2026 is the most recent in a string of successful years: Spirit crushed 2025, too, securing IEM Cologne and multiple BLAST Bounty events, and won the PerfectWorld Shanghai Major in 2024.

Interestingly, Team Spirit’s Esports World Cup win occurs on the same day the org beat Team Vision to win DOTA 2’s The International 2026. With buy-one-get-one Valve title tournament wins, it’s a great day to be a Spirit fan with this fun little synchronicity.

With tN1R (who joined last year) as an exception, Spirit’s roster has years of experience building a coordinated playstyle. Pros like donk and magixx have developed from young prodigies to reliable team fixtures with the lineup. They’re proving the momentum can just keep snowballing as the org continues its strong era.

Meanwhile, FUT entered the EWC with a relatively newer roster. Though the org has nearly a decade of overall activity, its Counter-Strike venture is still young, with just a year of operation. In that time, it’s already qualified to a Major, and now placed second in a key international tournament. Second place might not be the conclusion FUT Esports wanted, but with two overtimes to boot, it’s part of a solid upward trajectory.
