Esports World Cup 2026 Enters Its Final Stretch With the Club Title Still Open

Seven weeks of competition in Paris come down to the next nine days. The Esports World Cup 2026 has already crowned champions in Tekken 8, Honor of Kings, Call of Duty and a dozen other titles, and the event closes on 23 August. What nobody has settled yet is the one that pays out the most.

Team Falcons have won the Club Championship twice in a row. Going into the final stretch, they are not leading it.

Who Leads the Club Championship Right Now?

Chinese organisation All Gamers sit top of the table after Week 5, and the margin is thin enough that a single tournament win could flip it.

All Gamers built that lead across 13 tournaments and four medals, including a Tekken 8 title worth 1,000 points and runner-up finishes in Free Fire and Honor of Kings at 750 apiece.

Falcons got there differently. They have exactly one top-three finish all summer, Jaime “Craime” Busto’s win in Street Fighter 6, and everything else has come from steady placement points. That single trophy matters more than it looks: a club cannot win the Club Championship on placements alone, no matter how many top-eight finishes it stacks up. At least one outright tournament win is mandatory. Falcons have theirs banked. All Gamers have theirs. Nobody at this event has managed two.

More than 75 organisations have registered points somewhere on the standings, which tells you how wide the field spreads before it narrows at the top.

What Is Still Left to Play?

Four events decide the rest of it, and two of them are running as you read this.

• PUBG Mobile World Cup Grand Finals, 14 to 16 August. Sixteen teams, up to 18 matches, with the Smash Rule applied on the closing day.
• Rocket League, playoffs from 15 August. The group stage wraps today. Eight teams go into a single-elimination bracket, best-of-seven throughout except the third-place match. Karmine Corp, Gentle Mates, FURIA and Falcons headline a $1 million field.
• Counter-Strike 2, playoffs 19 to 23 August. The grand final lands at Accor Arena.
• Fortnite Reload Elite Series, 19 to 22 August. Forty duos, $1 million, and Fortnite’s first Reload global championship after skipping the 2025 edition entirely.

Chess also finishes on 15 August, with both All Gamers and NAVI holding players in the playoff bracket. Denis Lazavik and Nodirbek Abdusattorov meet in the opening round, so two of the top three clubs collide before the quarterfinals even settle.

Why the CS2 Bracket Decides This

Counter-Strike is the last big one, and it is the reason Vitality and NAVI still have a mathematical route to the top.

Quite a field, too: 32 teams, double what Riyadh hosted last year, competing for $2 million. Falcons arrive as the sport’s newest Major winner. Vitality are widely picked as favourites. NAVI, Team Spirit, The MongolZ and FURIA fill out a bracket with almost no soft landings.

The group stage has been running since 12 August across four double-elimination groups of eight, and the top four from each group move through. Four of those 32 spots came from something unusual for modern Counter-Strike: a genuinely open Last Chance Qualifier that anyone could enter. K27, BIG, JiJieHao and 100 Thieves came through it.

The age spread in Paris is worth a look on its own. Finn “karrigan” Andersen turns up as the oldest player in the tournament at 36, while B8’s Danylo “s1zzi” Vinnyk is 16. FUT Esports field the youngest roster at an average of 19.4 years, FURIA the oldest at 26.8.

Is Anyone Actually Watching?

More than last year, and not always where the organisers expected.

Week 5 alone produced a 255.5% jump in watch time over the same week of the 2025 edition. Honor of Kings drove much of that, clearing 700,000 peak viewers and 4.8 million watch hours for the biggest tournament in the game’s history. Tekken 8 set a series peak record at 114,100 viewers, and Call of Duty peaked at 271,800 on its way to a series record for average viewers.

The more interesting number is where those viewers went. Co-streams outdrew the official channels for the first time since Week 2, led by Indian YouTuber Raj “Snax Gaming” Varma, whose PUBG Mobile broadcasts alone pulled 3.28 million watch hours. French-language Call of Duty streams did much of the rest.

Falcons still lead the watch-time table with 35.51 million hours across the event, ahead of Aurora Gaming on 22.73 million and All Gamers on 22.69 million. Vitality sit fifth with 19.13 million from ten rosters.

Where Does That Leave Virtus.pro?

Level on points with Vitality, and effectively finished.

Virtus.pro have one representative across everything that remains, Péter “Pusztitopako” Varga in TrackMania, and no realistic path to close a 1,150-point gap from there. They will almost certainly hold a top-five finish and watch the last week from the outside.

Falcons, by contrast, have already banked points from chess and Rocket League, sit in the CS2 field, and send Carl-Antoni “Carl Jr.” Cloutier into TrackMania next week. That breadth is the argument for a third straight title.

What to Watch This Weekend

The PUBG Mobile Grand Finals and the Rocket League playoffs overlap on 15 and 16 August, which is the busiest single stretch left on the calendar. After that the event goes quiet for two days before Counter-Strike playoffs and Fortnite take over the final week.

All Gamers can extend their lead by defending the CrossFire title they won last year. Falcons need results, not a first trophy. Vitality and NAVI need one of those two to slip.
