Team Spirit has just made DOTA 2 history, claiming its third TI victory. The team defeated Team Vision in an extremely close best-of-5 matchup: let’s recap.
On August 23, 2026, Team Spirit beat Team Vision in a thrilling five-game series to win The International 2026 and claim their third DOTA 2 Aegis of Champions in Shanghai. This historic win means Team Spirit is the first org to hold three TI trophies. The series lived up to the hype, becoming only the fifth TI grand final in history to go the full distance.
The win was also a bit of a callback for Team Spirit, since Team Vision had defeated them 2-0 to secure the first Playoffs spot. Both orgs arrive from Russia, also granting them a bit of a regional rivalry. Going into the tournament, the community considered Team Vision one of the main orgs to beat, especially since it showed a dominant performance in the Swiss Stage.
Spirit took game one behind a dominant draft. Yatoro was the one to watch, slaying on Shadow Fiend with a 16/1 K/D and a Rampage. However, Team Vision answered right back in game two, with No[o]ne’s Earth Spirit and Satanic’s Lifestealer scaling into an unstoppable late-game threat that tied the series at 1-1.
The middle two games were a back-and-forth, with both orgs competing for momentum. Yatoro once again dominated on Terrorblade in Game 3. His 10/1 impact was key to push Spirit within one win of the title. Team Vision opted for a cleaner, more controlled style in Game 4, where captain Puppey guided his squad to a win.
Vision jumped out to an early lead in Game 5, but Spirit’s Collapse made a game-changing Lotus Orb bait play to swing the momentum back. Ultimately, Team Vision couldn’t recover from the setback, and Team Spirit secured the 2026 TI title.
The matchup between Team Spirit and Team Vision was extremely close, and both are known powerhouses in the DOTA 2 scene. However, there was once deciding factor that pushed Team Spirit past the finish line: Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk stood out as the best player of the finals. His mechanics, decision making, and playstyle carried multiple games and helped emphasize his place as one of the greatest Dota 2 players ever. Teammate Magomed “Collapse” Khalilov, who also showed significant skill, joined Yatoro in the highlight reels.

On the other side, Satanic and No[o]ne gave Team Vision their best moments. Their ambitious individual plays were vital to keep the series as close as it was. Ultimately, it wasn’t enough to secure the Aegis, but viewers certainly took note.
Team Spirit’s win grants the org its third TI title, a first in the circuit, and closes out one of the most competitive grand finals in the tournament’s history.
