This fall, the Thunderpick World Championship Finals will shake up Counter-Strike’s competitive calender. Let’s quickly recap everything to know about the event, including its schedule, prize pool, and key info.
Thunderpick’s World Championship tournaments bring Counter-Strike teams face-to-face in a high-stakes single-elimination bracket. Last year, FURIA took home the trophy, cementing its state as a Brazilian Counter-Strike powerhouse. The roster claimed 500,000 USD, and Ukrainian team Natus Vincere (NaVi) was the runner up with a 150,000 USD sum.
This is the TWC’s fourth year of operation. The tournament runs in partnership with Thunderpick, a betting site focusing on gaming. Notably, it’s one of the largest independent events outside Valve’s publisher-sponsored circuits.
In 2026, the Thunderpick World Championship will kick off again at the BLAST Studios Malta arena. Its eight teams are among the scene’s current strongest, with seven invites based on current VRS (Valve Regional Standings) points. The tournament will announce these main candidates later in September. One wild card will also enter the ring from a TWC 2026 Finals Global Qualifier, occurring in late August.

Head of Strategy Kelly Sanders stated, “The Thunderpick World Championship has always been about creating the kind of tournament we’d want to watch ourselves […] we’re excited to see what story unfolds in Malta this October.”
As fall draws closer, the TWC is on the horizon. The tournament will kick off on Wednesday, October 14, and will span until Sunday, October 18. Its Grand Finals will occur on a weekend, so it’ll be easier for fans to keep up.
The tournament typically starts off with a Group Stage, pitting teams against each other in two smaller clusters. This will determine seeding for the Playoffs, which are a single-elimination bracket with a third-place decider matchup.
In past years, all matches have been best-of-3, except for the Grand Finals, which is usually a longer best-of-5.
The Thunderpick World Championship 2026 Finals has a 1 million USD total prize pool. This is divided up between its Counter-Strike teams based on placement, with higher-ranking orgs earning a larger share.
