VALORANT console arrived in Australia and New Zealand on September 23, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Sydney server opened at 10:00 AM AEST, and progress carries over with PC on the same account. Before you queue in, here are the answers to the questions the launch actually raises: when your region goes live, whether you can play with PC friends, and what happens to your account.
One detail Riot buried in the announcement: the local console server was locked for a week of final testing before launch. Passionate players in the region lost access from September 17 until the server came back online for the real thing on September 23. PC players were not affected.

No, and this is the answer most players want first. Xbox and PlayStation players can queue together, so console cross-play across the two platforms works fine. Console players cannot join games with PC players, though.
Riot points to competitive integrity as the reason. Mouse-and-keyboard aim and controller aim play differently enough that mixing them would make matches feel unfair, so Riot keeps the two pools separate to keep the experience consistent on both sides.
No. Your progress stays on your account, and you use the same account across console and PC. Anything you earned or bought carries over both ways, including your Battlepass progress, recruited Agents and purchased skins. Play on either platform and the progress follows you.
No. VALORANT is free to play on console with no subscription required. PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass hand out extra benefits to subscribers, but you do not need either one to download the game and queue up.
This is another region added to a console rollout that has been growing for a couple of years, and Riot flagged the rising interest as the reason to keep expanding. Riot has been pushing VALORANT onto more platforms lately, including a run of new features for VALORANT Mobile, and this brings the Sydney server crowd into the fold on console.
