Riot Games is reportedly kicking off Champions Shanghai with a high-fashion partnership. A VALORANT x Balenciaga collab features Viper as a Digital Brand Ambassador: here’s everything to know.
On September 22, 2026, new VALORANT leaks started emerging about one of the game’s most unexpected collabs yet. Ahead of Champions Shanghai, VALORANT is reportedly launching a collab with high-fashion house Balenciaga.
The Spanish brand is well-known for its avant-garde designs. Balenciaga embodies a futuristic and edgy aesthetic. There’s a techy lean to many of its works, with lots of leather, dark colors, and metal.
It appears the venture has gone live in VALORANT’s APAC and China regions first. This makes sense since Champions Shanghai is about to kick off, starting on September 24 and lasting until November 18. Big-name teams like Paper Rex, NRG, G2 Esports, 100 Thieves, T1, EDward Gaming and more will appear at the event. User @VoLchaan on X.com found real-life billboards featuring in-game characters. Information also began emerging from VALORANT leak accounts, including @VALO2ASIA, which found a video advertisement for the partnership. In the clip, viewers see several models strutting through dim alleyways in Balenciaga designs. All of a sudden, the screen floods with bright green smoke… a clue to something more.
As further details spread, it became clear that VALORANT Agent Viper features heavily in the collab. In fact, Viper has reportedly become a Digital Brand Ambassador for Balenciaga. If this is the case, she joins ranks with the likes of Nicole Kidman and Kim Kardashian, who have represented the brand.
The toxin-toting Controller definitely fits the bill, since she’s known for wearing mostly black and participating in intense experiments. Viper’s sleek bob hairstyle seems like it could blend in on the red carpet for sure.
Viper is now allegedly appearing in Balenciaga marketing campaigns. She’s in mock editorial shoots, on towering billboards, and even wearing new outfits on promotional material.
The VALORANT x Balenciaga collab goes even further, with the brand reportedly making moves in the gaming gear space. Balenciaga is reportedly selling designer gaming glasses. They’re called the BALENCIAGA NEO FOCUS, and have properties that block blue light from screens.
In addition, Balenciaga is opening a “limited-time concept gaming café” in Shanghai. Champions 2026 attendees will be able to visit in person, playing ranked matches in a designer environment.
VALORANT is not shy about marketing weapon skins and cosmetics. That said, Riot Games has had very few brand collabs. Titles like Overwatch and Fortnite are notorious for their pop culture partnerships ( take the Overwatch LE SSERAFIM skins and the Fortnite Persona 5 skin set as examples). However, VALORANT mostly prefers to keep its new designs internal with original art concepts.
The VALORANT x Balenciaga collab may indicate a potential new strategy for the studio. If this venture is successful, it’s logical that more collabs could follow.
In addition, it’s a step into fresh territory for esports overall: designer brands are taking the sport seriously and making a real effort to interact.
