There’s a lot at stake at VALORANT Champions Shanghai. As tension grows and storylines build throughout the Group Stage, the tournament is heating up. With sixteen teams competing for a 1 million USD grand prize, there’s little room for error.
On September 25, players from Karmine Corp, Team Liquid, and NS RedForce reported experiencing mouse issues that affected their gameplay. VCT authorities confirmed the cause, and issued a fix.
Five days later, another tech pause is making the rounds: players from Turkish org FUT reported PC and mouse issues, including a firing glitch that occured on stream. Here’s a recap.
The VALORANT Champions Shanghai Group Stage is about to conclude, and it’ll cut eight of the event’s sixteen teams from the list. In this first phase’s matches, teams are fighting to stay above the top 2 cutoff.
Turkish org FUT has yetujey, xeus KROSTALY, s0pp, and sociablEEE on the roster. The team has competed in Group A throughout the Group Stage, facing 100 Thieves, JDG, and T1.
On September 30, 2026, FUT battled it out in a best-of-3 with 100 Thieves. Asuna, Cryocells, Timotino, vora, and bang made up the opposing team. The two rosters began their fight on Split. They were two rounds into the game when a major glitch occurred: during a crucial 2v1, a FUT player’s weapon refused to fire despite having a full ammo magazine.
At 1-1, xeus swung into 100T vora with a Spectre, but ultimately had to switch to his classic since the gun wasn’t registering his mouse input. By that time, FUT had lost the round.
Immediately after the game, the FUT players were asked about the issue in their post-match press conference. Notably, yetujey refused to answer questions, telling the press “I don’t want to be disrespectful to you guys, but I don’t care about Riot, so I will not join this.”
Several VALORANT team members made X.com posts about the situation. These elaborated on what happened, and also revealed FUT had experienced other technical issues throughout the tourney. FUT players reportedly were unable to move their seating out of lighting glares that made it hard to play. They also claimed sound issues prevented them from hearing Spike plants.
FUT’s coach, Vlad, stated: “The PCs are glitchy, mouse issues have been around since day one and keep happening every day despite claims they’ve been fixed.”
He stressed how frustrating the issues were for his team. “You’re wasting the sweat and effort of people who poured a whole year into this tournament.”
xeus made a quick post stating he “[hopes] we learn how to organize a tournament, especially one this big.” He confirmed that he had personally experienced sound issues, mouse issues, and PC freezing.
KROSTALY also took to social media, calling out “not just xeus’s PC issues, but their ‘plug the cable in and out to fix our audio problems’ solution, saying we can’t turn off the lights because the reflections make it impossible to see the monitor.”
KROSTALY claimed “we died maybe 10 times from sudden PC freezes,” but said authorities told him “there’s nothing we can do.” He closed, “If we earned our way here, we gotta lose fair and square too.”
Some VCT community members are calling for a rollback and want FUT to replay the 100 Thieves match. Ultimately, the final Split scoreline was 13-5 in 100 Thieves’ favor, a solid gap. However, it’s impossible to tell how that one missed round could have affected FUT’s eco. A disadvantage can easily snowball throughout the series, costing several rounds.
FUT’s next matchup on Lotus was much closer, ending 13-10. If the org had won Split, they would have had another chance to progress with a decider map.
Riot appears to have initially denied a rollback. In an interview with Ult Orb, Vlad reportedly claimed the team “had a compliance meeting regarding exactly this kind of situation one week ago […] the guys told us that if there was some kind of damage in the round to a player, we could have a rollback.”
Vlad reportedly continued: “What else do we need for a rollback? […] Everyone saw. His gun didn’t shoot for a second, and then it was too late.” He said he was “amazed by the decision from admins and referees.”
Team Liquid player nAts was another pro who commented on the glitch, asking: “Why so many tech issues at Champions?”
