Teamfight Tactics Set 18 is almost here. Enchanted Wilds will shake up the auto-battler with a new engine and several key updates. Here’s a recap of new info from its dev team.
TFT Set 18, Enchanted Wilds, brings players into a mystical, ancient forest. It will be the first set to run on TFT’s new Unreal Engine foundation. Magical Wisps will show up in the shop, with powers that add fresh game mechanics. The Carousel is also back.
On July 23, 2026, the TFT team dropped a Dev Update video revealing several of the game’s most important updates. These range from Unreal Engine info to new cosmetic access and Choncc’s Treasure mode changes. Let’s explore a recap of everything Executive Producer Geoffrey Virtue and Game Director Peter Whalen revealed.
TFT Enchanted Wilds will go live in a PBE first, just to see how it interacts with the game’s mechanics before fully dropping. The PBE arrives on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. It’s an extended launch, so it will run for four weeks, giving players time to test everything out.
The full Enchanted Wilds release date is Tuesday, August 25, 2026. The exact release time may vary depending on the player’s region and location. Once it goes live, it should appear on the Riot Games Patch Notes page.

Teamfight Tactics is seeing one of its biggest changes yet, but the game’s mechanics will stay largely the same after it. Can you guess what it is?
If you picked a new game engine, you’d be right on the money. Riot Games is shifting TFT to Unreal Engine. Previously, the auto-battler relied on Hextech, an in-house engine, since 2019. Riot announced the change at the State of Unreal keynote in Chicago, revealing that it had been in discussion since 2024. The rollout will begin with Set 18’s launch. Riot is being clear that this isn’t a reboot or a sequel, and it’ll stay the same TFT fans know and love, just with a new internal system. The Unreal Engine integration will also be a gradual process. It’ll take time to fully shift every Champion and ability from one platform to another
The move will make TFT’s development more independent from League of Legends. In addition, the game will have a standalone client. The Unreal Engine shift will be part of TFT Set 18’s PBE update. Riot is making players aware that they may encounter small bugs while the process is underway, and they’re encouraged to report bugs.

Riot wants to give TFT fans something special to look forward to while they wait for the engine shift to complete. In the Dev Update, Whalen and Virtue stated:
“When Enchanted Wilds launches, some cosmetics (including some mythic and prestige tiers) won’t be available right away. […] During the time we take to bring all our cosmetics over to Unreal, we want to give players a chance to explore, equip, and give feedback on everything we have to offer. So if you own any cosmetic at a given rarity, you’ll be able to use a bunch of other cosmetics in that category.“
The pair provided an example: anyone with a Chibi Devil Teemo could borrow other Mythic-level tacticians. These skins won’t be yours to keep, but it’s a win-win: you get to try cosmetics before you buy them, and Riot gets feedback on possible bugs and graphic issues. They also may include some past limited-time offerings that are currently out of the TFT shop.
Things are shaking up a bit, since two TFT sets will be active at once. Since the Unreal Engine shift is an unprecedented occurrence, Riot Games is keeping Space Gods up at the same time Set 18 Enchanted Wilds launches for a short time.
“Both Space Gods and Enchanted Wilds will be playable in the League client for a limited time. For players who are ready to jump into Enchanted Wilds, We’re excited to welcome you in. For players who want to continue playing Space Gods, that option is there as well.”
The devs note that Space Gods will no longer receive major updates once Enchanted Wilds goes live: “We won’t be doing major regular balance patches on Space Gods, but we’ll continue to ensure it stays healthy.”
The Set cycle will eventually return to normal so that Space Gods won’t be staying forever. The team says it will be here for “an extended period of time.”

Choncc’s Treasure is back in Teamfight Tactics, arriving amidst the Set 16-17 transition. The chunky dragon wanders the Grand Library, guiding players through loot-filled Unlockables tied to their favorite Lore & Legends champions. The mode has given longtime fans a fresh reason to revisit champions and comps they may not have touched in a while.
The dev team is dropping more Choncc’s Treasure updates with the Set 18 launch. They state: “In classic Choncc fashion, his Heart of Gold has him looking for even more loot to add to the revival, so there may be some more updates soon.”
