Teamfight Tactics is rolling out Patch 17.8, with some big surprises in store for players. Here’s a summary of its biggest changes.
Teamfight Tactics Patch 17.8 has arrived, and it’s fine-tuning the current Space Gods meta while introducing players to Set 18. Aside from Enchanted Wilds, gamers can also enjoy a fun blast from the past with Choncc’s Classic Treasure. This nostalgic mode gives Choncc’s Lore and Legends a League Classic makeover.
There are also plenty of balance changes. Anima Squad and N.O.V.A. comps are getting hit hardest, while Cosmic Restart nearly doubles in effectiveness. Let’s recap everything players can expect, and explore each unique game mode.
Riot dropped TFT Set 18 Enchanted Wilds‘ PBE on July 28th, letting fans jump in early and test out its fresh mechanics. One of the Set’s key additions is Wisps, which bring back the old Charms system from Magic’N Mayhem. These appear in the right-side slot of shops throughout a match. Rather than sticking around as units, they vanish once purchased or once combat kicks off, revealing whatever champion was hiding underneath.

Beyond the Wisps mechanic, Enchanted Wilds will bring a whole roster of fresh traits and champions. There are also some returning favorites and fresh Legendary units. The set’s new Augments tie into its woodlands theme, giving players plenty of new build paths to experiment with. Patch 17.8 itself focuses more on tuning the current Space Gods set and rolling out the nostalgic Choncc’s Classic Treasure mode. However, this early Enchanted Wilds preview gives TFT fans a solid taste of what to expect when the new set officially goes live. Check out our main guide on the launch here.
Choncc’s Lore and Legends, a popular game mode within the TFT community, is getting a Classic Mode twist. The update arrives in tandem with League of Legends’ Patch 26.15, which brings League Classic to the forefront. Classic shines the spotlight on the early days of the game, from around 2013-2015. It completely revamps Champion graphics and restores their kits to previous forms.
Choncc’s Classic Treasure will reportedly include “League Classic PvE monsters, Kayle’s tribunal, past classic items like Heart of Gold, and more!” Players can access it immediately after the patch goes live. They’ll team up with Choncc, a chunky dragon who wanders through the Grand Library, and hunt for rewards in loot-filled Unlockables tied to some of the game’s most beloved champions.
Briar, Twisted Fate, Gnar, Miss Fortune, Diana, Riven, and Zed are all seeing buffs in TFT Patch 17.8. Notably, Gnar has entered the Brawler class. In addition, Riven, Miss Fortune, and Twisted Fate all grab some big damage boosts.

Akali and Samira both see nerfs here, mainly to shake up the meta after the Tactician’s Crown. Riot is “lowering [Akali’s] N.O.V.A. strike bleed damage to keep her from cutting above the rest of our reroll comps.” Meanwhile, Samira has been particularly oppressive due to her Knockup and passive damage. To level out the win rates, the studio is “lowering the duration and damage on her passive so that clicking the Augment is less of a guarantee for top four.”
Morgana receives major adjustments in this patch, especially since her kit aligns with Set 18’s focus. She will become a Conduit, assisting in Mana regen. Riot writes that they are “adding [a] similar mana-focused class to her, alongside a small compensation nerf to invoke some new Conduit boards.”
Psionic and Cosmic Restart are grabbing buffs, while Anima Squad and Conduit are being nerfed across the board. Cosmic Restart’s Rerolls will nearly double. Psionic sees hugely increased healing properties and damage. Anima Squad’s loot pool gets shaken up, and Conduit’s mana regen is now less.
