Marvel Rivals Season 9.5 is almost here, and it’s continuing the summer fun with new skins, several events, and a new Hero. Let’s recap everything players should know.
Marvel Rivals offered fans a Dev Vision update on August 4, revealing key information about the upcoming Season 9.5 Patch. Creative Director GuangGuang popped in to explain some key adjustments, like new Hero The Hood, upcoming events, and PC file size reductions.

We’ll go into everything more in-depth later, but for now, here’s a quick summary of everything in the Marvel Rivals Season 9.5 Roadmap:
Marvel Rivals Season 9.5 will release on Friday, August 7, 2026. The update will require some server down time, which is estimated to take about 2 hours. Server downtime will begin at 9:00 UTC and will likely last until 11:00 UTC.
During the server maintenance, players will not be able to log in to Marvel Rivals. In addition, they can’t play any game modes: Competitive, Unranked, and all events will be offline.
The Hood, Marvel Rivals’ new Hero, is releasing with Season 9.5. He is going live on August 7, 2026, as soon as the servers return to regular activity.
His real name is Parker Robbins. He was originally a petty thief in NYC, before he got demon powers in a robbery gone wrong. He stole a magic cloak and boots, which give him supernatural abilities.

Yes, The Hood is a Vanguard Hero. This means he’ll be serving the team in a Tank role.
Some of The Hood’s abilities center on his double pistols. While doing damage, he builds up a demonic energy meter. At full charge, the pistols morph with his arms to become high-energy, rapid-fire rifles. The Hood can also spawn protective bubbles and walls, which reduce incoming damage. He has a movement ability that lets him become invisible and move for a short period of time, similar to Cloak. His Ultimate basically turns him into the Gun Devil from Chainsaw man. He reaches full demon form and sends out shield-piercing shots in the middle of a teamfight, doing huge damage. It also grants bonus health to nearby teammates.
The Hood will get a new skin as soon as he releases: Sinful Blackout The Hood will go live in the shop on August 7. For more info, check out our in-depth guide on The Hood here.
When Lady Loki first arrived on the scene, some players noticed her animations looked a bit awkward with some skins. Both Loki versions shared the same walk cycle, which clashed with Lady Loki’s garments and other animations sometimes.

Season 9.5 is adding a new Lady Loki animation pack. Players can customize their Hero to use either the old set or the new, updated style. The animation changes will appear on August 14.
Players can use the in-game Costume menu to change Lady Loki’s animations.
The Creed of Akkaba event is coming to Marvel Rivals as soon as the Season 9.5 Patch launches. This event ties into the ongoing storyline around Clan Akkaba.
Several cosmetics are available for players who complete the event’s quests. NetEase has not published the full official rewards list yet, but based on how past events have worked, players can expect a mix of missions that unlock cosmetics, currency, and other collectibles as they progress. The Roadmap image also shows a skin for Jeff the Shark and another Hero who looks like The Punisher.

As part of the Season 9.5 update, Marvel Rivals is following up its successful Swimsuit Special with another summer skin set release. The Heroes in the second swimsuit drop include:
Fans are especially happy to see Storm in the mix, since she hasn’t had as many skin releases as other Heroes. Winter Soldier fans are also eating good this year with yet another cosmetic drop.
Marvel Rivals’ Krakoan Reels event turns the game into a laid back summer fishing trip, letting players cast lines and reel in rare fish to earn Fish Coins. Those coins get spent in the Fishery Club exchange store, where fans can grab beach themed costumes just by playing matches and racking up XP for bait.
The mode is returning for Vol. 2 in the Season 9.5 update, with more available rewards. It goes live on August 14. The Star-Lord, Black Cat, and Winter Soldier skins appear to be in the offering lineup.
The game is slashing its download size in Season 9.5, making sure all Marvel Rivals players aren’t clogging up their PC storage. This will also work for console players (PS5 and Xbox).
This fix arrives due to a “massive texture compression overhaul.” In the Dev Vision video, Marvel Rivals clarified that ‘players can expect roughly 40GB of file size reduction on PC.’ This number is slightly smaller for console at 15GB, but still a significant change.
