NaVi CyvOph Steps Out of VCT, Kolosha Stands In
NaVi is switching around its VCT EMEA roster in Stage 2, promoting Kolosha while CyvOph takes a hiatus. Here’s a recap.
VCL teams are surprisingly dominant in the VCT EMEA Play-Ins, and Eintracht Frankfurt and Joblife have just 2:0’d Fnatic and Team Heretics.

After dominating the 2025 VCT season, two VCL teams have just knocked Fnatic and Team Heretics out of VCT EMEA Stage 2. Here’s a recap of the situation.
Riot Games created the VALORANT Challengers League (VCL) with one goal in mind: creating a streamlined pathway for any VALORANT player to reach Tier 1 competition through skill alone. By passing through the series’ Ascension tournament, any team can earn a slot among the greats, proving themselves in next year’s VCT competition.
However, Riot took things one step further in VCT 2026 by providing even more opportunities for VCL teams to have a direct pathway to Champions. Each VCT: Stage 2 tournament now includes several slots for regional Challengers teams, letting them compete against long-standing partnered orgs.
The community wasn’t sure how this would play out at first, but we’re now seeing results in real time. Especially in VCT EMEA, some of the Challengers teams are thriving, and they’re even knocking down some of the scene’s most difficult opponents.
At the time of writing, all four qualified Challengers teams remain in VCT EMEA Stage 2. As it stands, they make up 2/3 of the remaining Play-Ins team pool. Two of these competitors, Fire Flux Esports and Enterprise Esports, have progressed to the Play-In Upper Bracket Semifinals. Meanwhile, Eintracht Frankfurt and Joblife are dominating the lower bracket, inching closer to a potential Playoffs qualification. (If Eintracht Frankfurt sounds familiar to you, it’s probably because there are also several German Football teams in the franchise. They compete in UEFA and Bundeslinga.)
Viewers have seen the teams push past some of the top organizations in Europe. NaVi, GIANTX, FNATIC, Gentle Mates, Team Heretics, and PCIFIC Esports have all faced final elimination before a single one of their VCL opponents. Some of the matches have been close, but others have been surprisingly dominant sweeps. For example, we saw Enterprise Esports 2:0 Gentle Mates, and Fire Flux Esports didn’t give PCIFIC Esports a single match.
After Enterprise Esports sent Gentle Mates to the lower bracket, Eintracht Frankfurt was hungry for victory. The org has been on a tear, first permanently eliminating Gentle Mates 2:0 and then following it up with a 2:0 win over Team Heretics. Notably, TH won the 2025 VALORANT Esports World Cup, and was one of the top 2024-2025 competitors. This year, TH also dominated VCT EMEA Stage 1, placing 1st.
Eintracht Frankfurt’s win against TH was close, with a 13:11 lead on Lotus and a 13:7 gap on Haven. However, the org’s streak has been remarkably consistent. Eintracht’s final Team Heretics elimination proves the team can stand head-to-head with opponents who have already placed in international circuits. azury, Fizzy, and Jamelinho123 ran circles around the competition.
Joblife has also 2:0’d FNATIC. Fnatic’s lineup performed even better than TH in the 2025 season, placing second in Champions. Essentially, a Challengers team has just defeated a Champions Grand Finalist. Alfajer, crashies, star Duelist kaajak and well-known IGL Boaster are all on the current Fnatic roster. Duelist Pa1ze and Controller kamyk were the up-and-comers to watch from Joblife.
It’s important to note that, like TH’s elimination, Fnatic’s loss was also a small gap. Joblife went 13:11 on Lotus and 13:8 on Breeze.
As VCT EMEA Stage 2 draws closer to its conclusion, it’s looking entirely possible we could see a Challengers team progress to Champions 2026. However, even if that’s not the case, the rising stars’ performances guarantee we will likely see more of them in VCT seasons to come.

NaVi is switching around its VCT EMEA roster in Stage 2, promoting Kolosha while CyvOph takes a hiatus. Here’s a recap.

Gentle Mates is making some roster changes mid-season. The team will bench bipo and sign H1ber for VCT EMEA Stage 2.

Riot and VCT Pacific confirmed there will not be a rematch after a Cypher bug occurred in an overtime between Gen.G and Global Esports.
