A new VALORANT bug is making players inside Cypher cages invincible to utility, and it’s even been spotted in VCT matches. Here’s everything to know about the situation.
Cypher is one of VALORANT’s trickiest Sentinels. His utility relies on precise placements, game sense, and stealth. However, VALORANT players have discovered a new Cypher bug that makes things a bit easier: his cages can now make you invincible to utility.
NEW MAJOR BUG If a player is inside Cypher’s cage, no ability that is supposed to affect them will have any effect.

@valohabercisi on X.com was the first to publicize the glitch, but @JunNee_q was the first to discover and replicate it. Apparently, when players are standing in a Cypher cage, utility from other Agents will not affect them. You are effectively invincible to any utility and status effects.

The find went viral, scoring over 850,000 views in just a few hours.
If you’ve been following VCT Pacific, you know that Gen.G t3xture is good… like, really good. That said, no matter how much plot armor he has, fans noticed t3xture avoiding crucial utility while in a Cypher cage, and that just shouldn’t be happening.
It recently happened in VCT Pacific, but no one gave a shit. @GlobalEsportsIn yall should sue riot or do something about this

In t3xture’s matchup against Global Esports just a few days ago, he was holding Sunset A site against GE’s push. GE blocked the angle t3xture was on with an Operator with a Cypher cage. Next, GE’s Raze used a boombot to clear A elbow, which is the usual protocol. The team followed it up with a Fade prowler, passing directly through the Cypher cage and moving right next to t3xture. However, neither piece of utility detected him. t3xture got a free kill on UdoTan because of the bug.
Netizen @latareyasotlinc thought the bug was a particularly egregious error. They said on X.com that “no one gave a sh– [when it happened]. [Global Esports] yall should sue riot or do something about this.”
Indeed, the glitch likely affected the outcome of the round. Gen.g vs Global Esports went into Overtime with a 12:14 final score, ending as an extremely close matchup. That extra round definitely could have turned the tide for GE. It also was the decider that sent Gen.G, rather than GE, to the VCT Pacific 2026 Stage 2 Playoffs.
That said, other netizens argue that since it was GE’s own Cypher cage causing the debacle, the situation is nuanced. Since the matchup also occurred a while back, it would be difficult to adjust the standings. Some users are even calling it a ‘Cypher Buff,’ saying the glitch is needed and makes sense since his cages should disrupt detection.
Riot Games has not yet commented on the bug.
