Ardiis Apologizes for Game Changers Comments

Ardiis VCT Game Changers Situation: What Happened?

Ardis ‘Ardiis’ Svarenieks is a VALORANT Twitch streamer, currently representing Natus Vincere (NaVi). Before pivoting to content creation, Ardiis spent several years playing Counter-Strike and VALORANT as a pro. He is most well-known for his time on NRG, a North American organization heavily active in the VCT.

On July 21, 2026, Ardiis was broadcasting the VCT Game Changers circuit live. This tournament includes exclusively female and gender-nonconforming players. Riot created the scene with eventual integration into the main VCT Season in mind.

While watching GIANTX vs. BAR.GC, Ardiis responded to a comment in his chat:

“How much for you to change genders and play in Game Changers? I would never do that. Actually, I might do that. If times get tough, I probably will do that. But listen, not in the next couple of weeks at least.”

FNATIC ex-pro Leo was also present during the stream, contributing to the discussion. The two continued to make jokes about transitioning to join Game Changers while interacting with the chat.

The situation drew attention from the VALORANT community, especially because ardiis was a co-streamer for the event.

Ardiis Apologizes for VCT Game Changers Comments

On July 22, 2026, ardiis returned to X.com to issue an apology. The streamer wrote,

“Hey everyone, the comments I made on stream about the transgender community were unacceptable. Even for me it was too much. I’m so sorry to everyone I offended; it won’t happen again. Peace and love to everyone♥️”

Ardiis’ post surpassed 500,000 views, attaining 2,600 likes. Many netizens questioned if the reaction was genuine, especially since ardiis returned to stream with further commentary after writing his apology.

ardiis reportedly continued:

“I think we don’t want Game Changers at all, bro. I think we let the scene die so when in two years’ time, when no one supports it, and all the sponsors have pulled out, and all the orgs have pulled out because there’s no one watching the sport, I want them to know that I was giving them a lifeline.”

The streamer also mocked the apology post live on stream, saying: “I’m genuinely curious how people will respond […] Hey, everyone. […] You know, since we want to be inclusive. What do I even say, chat? Genuinely, what do I say sorry for?”

Community Reactions

The apology sparked mixed reactions from the VALORANT community. Many pro players, tournament scene experts, and influencers took to social media to defend the Game Changers scene. ardiis’ post did draw out some netizens who supported his statements. However, many of these users were also dissatisfied with the apology, claiming he walked back his comments due to controversy rather than standing on business.

User @tsuzato wrote, “No comment on what u said, but this half-a–ed apology might be worse than just ignoring the hate lol.”

GIANTX player adora directed an X.com post at ardiis and Leo. She called the pair “washed bums,” saying they were talking about Game Changers players “because that’s the only thing that will pay your bills at this point […] get a real job.”

Liquipedia VALORANT editor and caster @ChainsSoul wrote, “Not surprised by Ardiis, he only exists through controversies and he knows it. Leo, it’s surprising to see him open his mouth so much to spew sh–. […] it’s a disgrace that Riot allows them to freely insult the players.”

Many additional esports fans expressed surprise at Leo’s involvement in the situation. The ex-pro had previously received much support from the VALORANT community after stepping into an inactive status and retiring due to health issues. Indeed, redditor Outrageous_Star4906 called it a “fork found in kitchen” moment for ardiis, but stated Leo’s comments were unexpected for them.

GIANTX, whose Game Changers team was playing in ardiis’ stream, also offered an official statement condemning the ‘unacceptable comments‘.

“At our organization, we firmly believe that esports must be a safe and inclusive space […] The Game Changers circuit was created precisely with the purpose of bringing visibility to, protecting, and empowering women and marginalized communities within the competitive ecosystem. […] We want to make an appeal to the entire community: it is everyone’s responsibility—organizations, content creators, tournament organizers, and fans—to eradicate these behaviors. Silence in the face of harassment makes us complicit, which is why today we have decided to speak out.”

VCT competitive authorities have not yet commented on the situation.
