Worlds 2026 storylines are heating up, and the LCK just grabbed another major accomplishment before the tournament kicks into high gear. Team South Korea, featuring Zeus, Canyon, Faker, Zeka, Gumayusi, and Keria, has just won the 2026 League of Legends Asian Games. Here’s a recap.
On October 2, 2026, Team South Korea won the League of Legends Asian Games in a 3-0 Grand Final sweep against Team Chinese Taipei / Taiwan. The games, which occur every four years, are one of the most significant League of Legends esports distinctions outside official Riot-sponsored tournaments.
The win means South Korea defends its previous title in Hangzhou 2022, now holding a two-year win streak. The Team South Korea roster includes plenty of well-known faces from the LCK: players from Hanwha Life Esports, Gen.G, and T1 all made appearances. Zeus, Canyon, Zeka, Gumayusi, and Keria are on the main lineup, and Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-Hyeok served as a sub. Meanwhile, JDG, CTBC Flying Oyster, Ground Zero Gaming, and Deep Cross Gaming took the second-place prize.
Throughout the Group Stage, Faker appeared multiple times. For example, viewers saw him in the India-South Korea faceoff on September 29. Here, he reunited with former T1 teammate Gumayusi. Zeka shifted to the starting midlaner role for the Playoffs, dropping a sizable 19/4/27 overall scoreline in the Grand Final.
Earlier this year, South Korea had recognized Faker with a government title. After winning the Cheongnyong medal, South Korea’s highest athletic distinction, the esports pro received an ‘Honorary Police Officer’ title.
In his role, Faker is a Cyber Gambling Public Relations Ambassador. His main duty is to promote healthy online habits and warn citizens about gambling dangers.
Following the Team South Korea win, the Korean National Police Agency (KNPA) sent out a statement saying:
“To the Legendary Figure of Korean eSports, Honorary Police Officer Faker, we sincerely congratulate you on winning the gold medal at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.”
“Honorary Police Officer Faker, in this competition as well, demonstrated unwavering outstanding skill, once again proving to the world the strength of Korean eSports. We wish for Honorary Police Officer Faker’s future to be filled with health and happiness.”
