After a tough season in 2025, SK Gaming made significant roster changes. The latest team member to join is mid-laner Slowq, with experience on Karmine Corp. Here’s everything to know about the move.

Slowq Has Joined SK Gaming as a Mid-Laner

On July 6, 2026, European League of Legends org SK Gaming announced Seo “SlowQ” Ye-bit has joined its main roster. Slowq will play as a mid-laner, joining teammates Wunder, Skeanz, Jopa, and Mikyx.

In an X.com post, the team called the move “A mildly well-kept secret,” saying it was “time to make it official […] Please welcome the newest addition to our LEC team ahead of Summer Split.”

Slowq, who most recently played for Misa Esports, is known for his strong performances in regional European circuits. Throughout 2025 and early 2026, he has swept the TCL and LFL. Slowq has also played in two EMEA Masters events, notably winning EMEA Masters 2025 Summer under the Karmine Corp banner.

What Does This Mean for League of Legends Esports?

The League of Legends landscape has changed drastically throughout the years. The game looks unrecognizable from its original state (which Riot Games is bringing back as a new game mode in League Classic), and so does the esports sphere. SK Gaming is one of the oldest League of Legends teams out there, and one of the oldest esports organizations in general. Counter-Strike fans could recognize SK from as far back as 2002 or as recently as the 2016-2018 win streak. Coldzera, Stewie2k, and Pimp, among other household names, all played under the banner at one point. The team was instrumental in elevating esports’ legitimacy and presence.

SK Gaming actually began its League efforts in 2010, just a year after the game’s original release. However, it has not found the same success as Counter-Strike. The org hasn’t placed in a Worlds since 2014, and has scored poorly in most LEC events.

2026 has been an especially rough year for SK Gaming’s League lineup. In late 2025, the org significantly restructured its roster, featuring Wunder, Mikyx, LIDER, Skeanz, and Jopa. Fans were hoping the veteran presence of Wunder and Mikyx would steady the team. Instead, their LEC Spring Split performance was extremely lacking, with the team sitting near the bottom of the standings with just two wins. They did score an impressive comeback victory over Fnatic, but this means little without consistency.

SK is likely investing in Slowq since he has proven competence at international European events. His previous experience on Karmine Corp is probably especially attractive, since the org is known for steamrolling EMEA Masters events and has held up in 2026 as a fierce competitor.
