EDward Gaming League of Legends Welcomes Back Jiejie

On August 4, 2026, EDward Gaming announced that Zhao “Jiejie” Lijie will return to its main League of Legends roster. The pro jungler got his start in 2019 on EDG’s Youth Team, the org’s academy roster. He moved to the core lineup just two months later, spending the next four years under the EDward Gaming banner. EDG fans remember him as part of the team’s Worlds 2021 winning roster, which defeated Damwon Gaming and Gen.G on the way to the crown. In 2024, Jiejie departed to Invictus Gaming. He later spent time on FunPlus Phoenix and Weibo Gaming. Throughout his time in the pro scene, Jiejie has competed in the LPL circuit.

EDG wrote in their announcement, “Welcome back […] Jiejie will join EDWARD GAMING in 2026 as our player. Let’s move forward together!”

This move occurs as EDward Gaming is gearing up to compete in LPL 2026 Split 3. The team’s performance has declined in recent years. In 2026, EDG did not qualify for the Esports World Cup or the Mid-Season Invitational.

EDG was once the biggest aura farmer of the LPL, but now, it’s struggling among China-region competitors and international opponents alike. EDward Gaming shocked the League of Legends world when they won Worlds 2021, as they entered the tournament as an underdog. Nobody expected EDG to take the title that year, which made the win even sweeter for their fans. The victory emphasized China’s LoL prominence.
