Rekkles has been without a team for five months, and the clock is now running on his last real shot

Martin “Rekkles” Larsson has not played a competitive match since March. On August 3 he stepped away from solo queue and went on vacation, closing out a schedule he announced on stream back in the spring. The next date on it is the November transfer window, and by then the Swede will be 30 years old with two collapsed projects behind him.

For a player who has been on a roster almost continuously since 2012, this is new territory.

How Rekkles ended up here

Two teams folded under him inside five weeks.

Los Ratones disbanded on February 12, four days after elimination from LEC Versus 2026. Marc “Caedrel” Lamont’s side had opened the event 0-4, then won four straight, including upsets of Movistar KOI and G2 Esports. A loss to Team Vitality on February 8 left the team at 5-6 and outside the playoff cut.

Witchcraft came next. Tim “Nemesis” Lipovšek announced the roster on March 4, keeping four of the five Los Ratones players and bringing in Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau for Simon “Baus” Hofverberg in the top lane, with YamatoCannon coaching. The team entered EMEA Masters 2026 Winter through the NLC fourth seed pathway, lost twice to G2 Nord in Group D, and never reached the playoffs. The players left on March 15, 11 days after the announcement.

Rekkles has been a free agent since.

What was the plan for the rest of 2026?

He set it out publicly in mid-March, and he stuck to every part of it.

• Co-streaming: First Stand 2026 in São Paulo, then MSI 2026 in Daejeon across late June and early July
• Korea bootcamp: May 4 to June 15, playing both support and AD carry rather than specialising
• One stage appearance: the European side at Legends on CHZZK, reaching the playoff stage on June 10
• EUW solo queue through the summer in both roles, ending August 3

The dual-role grind was deliberate. Rekkles said in March that he would look at AD carry, support, and coaching offers for 2027, which gives him three separate pitches to make when contracts start moving.

Does anyone in the LEC actually want him?

That is the open question, and the honest answer is that nobody knows yet.

His resume is not in doubt. Four LEC titles, four regular season MVP awards, a Worlds 2018 final, the first player to reach both 1,000 and 2,000 kills in the league, and 10 pentakills, more than any other European. Caps has since passed him on the all-time kill list with 2,639 to his 2,177.

The counter-argument arrived quickly after Witchcraft folded. Thorin, a long-time critic, argued in March that no LEC side should hand him a starting spot, pointing at his history with teammates and coaching staff. Age is the other obstacle. Winter 2027 rosters will be built around players in their early twenties, and a 30-year-old support with no games since March is a difficult sell to a partner organisation.

The coaching route looks less complicated. Rekkles has said co-streaming keeps him engaged with League at a macro level, which reads as preparation for exactly that kind of move.

The line he has not repeated

During LEC Versus, in a broadcast interview, Rekkles said of the Los Ratones project: “I think it might be the last thing I do here.”

He has not said it again since. Everything he has done in the months after points the other way, from the bootcamp to the two-role solo queue plan to the stated openness to offers. Both readings can sit together. He is preparing seriously for one more contract while accepting the offer might never arrive.

November will settle it. Until then, the most decorated AD carry in European history is on holiday, waiting for a phone call that four LEC trophies no longer guarantee.
