MSI 2026 is swiftly progressing, and the Grand Final is on the horizon. Here’s everything to know about the event, its teams, the schedule, and how fans can watch.

Why is MSI 2026 Important? The Lore

The Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) is one of the most critical events in the League of Legends year. It occurs smack-dab in the center of the competitive season, measuring teams’ performance before they meet at the most prestigious face-off: the World Championship.

There’s a lot at stake. MSI 2026’s winning team will automatically qualify for Worlds 2026 if they reach the Playoffs in Split 3, bringing them one step closer to cementing their place in League history. The 2nd-place winners also receive an extra regional seed at the event.

As MSI progresses through the Bracket Stage, teams are beginning to face elimination. Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) has pulled ahead in the upper bracket. Earlier this year, the team placed first in the LCK’s Road to MSI (with a 3:1 victory over bot-laner Gumayusi’s former team, T1) and 2nd in the Esports World Cup qualifier. They are known for strong international performance. Meanwhile, G2 Esports is also in the running as they continue their legacy of steamrolling LEC events in 2026. G2, however, is known for being consistent during the regular season but choking at major events.

Bilibili Gaming won First Stand 2026 and crushed both LPL Splits so far. They remain in the upper-bracket running in MSI. Household-name team T1 is also continuing its fight for the trophy, losing 3:2 to Bilibili in the Upper Bracket and facing FURIA to climb back up. The organization’s performance is variable, but when it’s in the zone, it lives up to its legacy, and its core roster works together with intense precision.

Mid-Season Invitational Format

Teams reached the Mid-Season Invitational based on their performance in regional splits, Road to MSI events, and their Championship Points. First, they took part in a Play-In Stage, where teams faced off based on their First Stand 2026 results. T1 emerged victorious here, eliminating Karmine Carp, Team Liquid, and Deep Cross Esports completely.
