A casino bonus is worth what's left after wagering, the cashout cap and the expiry. We read every offer that way, show you how to do the maths yourself, and rank the casinos available to Irish players on the value of their offers after terms.

Every casino leads with its welcome bonus, and the headline number has almost nothing to do with what the bonus is worth. A 200% match up to €1,000 with 40x wagering on deposit plus bonus can be worth less than a €20 cashback with no strings. This page shows how to tell the difference and ranks the offers at the casinos we review on value after terms.
What is a casino bonus?
A casino bonus is money or spins added to your account under conditions. The conditions decide whether any of it ever becomes withdrawable cash.

How to work out what a bonus is worth
Three numbers in the terms do almost all the work:
Wagering requirement. How many times you must bet the bonus, or bonus plus deposit, before withdrawing.
Maximum cashout. The most you can withdraw from bonus winnings.
Expiry. How long you have to meet the wagering.
Then check game weighting (slots usually count 100%, table games 10% or nothing, live games often nothing) and the maximum bet while a bonus is active, often €5 a spin. Breaking the max-bet rule voids winnings.
Worked example
You deposit €100 and receive a €100 bonus with 35x wagering on the bonus only. You must wager €3,500. On a slot with 96% RTP, the expected loss on €3,500 of turnover is €140, more than the bonus. On average you finish wagering with nothing left. If the same 35x applied to deposit plus bonus, the turnover doubles to €7,000 and the expected loss to €280.

Rule of thumb: at 96% RTP a bonus holds its value only if wagering on the bonus is under about 25x. Above that, treat it as extra playing time, not money.
How we rank casino bonuses
Value after terms carries 40% of the score, calculated as above. Clarity of terms carries 25%: are wagering, caps, game weighting and max bet stated before you opt in? Fairness carries 20%: can you withdraw your own deposit while a bonus is active, and are high-RTP slots excluded? Ongoing offers for existing players carry 15%. The headline amount is not scored.

Mirax tops the bonus ranking because of its cashback, the one bonus type that is worth what it says. The match bonus is conventional and its wagering is above the best here; the cashback is why to choose it.
Your own deposit is locked until wagering is complete, so you cannot withdraw without forfeiting the bonus.
High-RTP slots are excluded from wagering.
Skrill and Neteller deposits are excluded from the welcome bonus.
The bonus must be claimed with a code at deposit and cannot be added later.
One bonus per household, IP address or device.
Winnings from free spins are capped at €50 or €100.
Should you take a bonus at all?
If you would play the wagering amount anyway, a low-wagering bonus adds value. If you want to be able to withdraw whenever you like, decline it: without a bonus there is no wagering and no lock on your balance. Most casinos let you opt out at deposit or through support.
Bonuses and Irish rules
The Gambling Regulation Act 2024 restricts inducements and bans credit card gambling for licensed operators, and the GRAI will set further rules on offers. Offshore casinos are not covered by those rules; what that means is explained on best online casinos Ireland. This page compares terms for information and quotes no bonus amounts.
The one with the lowest wagering, longest expiry and no lock on your deposit, or cashback without wagering. RoboCat Casino currently ranks first on our Irish list.
What does 35x wagering mean?
You must bet the bonus 35 times before withdrawing. On a €100 bonus that is €3,500 of bets.
Can I withdraw my deposit while a bonus is active?
At many casinos, no, not without losing the bonus. Check whether real and bonus money are held separately.
Do live casino games count towards wagering?
Usually not, or at a low percentage. The game weighting table in the terms says.
Can I turn a bonus down?
Yes. Opt out at deposit or ask support; without a bonus there's no wagering.
Do you earn money from these links?
Yes. EsportNow may earn a commission if you open an account through a link. The ranking follows the published method.
