Marvel Rivals has more surprises in store this Season: The Hood will reportedly join the game’s roster soon. New leaks are emerging about the character’s role, abilities, and lore. Let’s explore everything players should know.
The Hood, real name Parker Robbins, is best known as a supervillain in Marvel’s comic lore. He started as a petty criminal, eventually stealing a cloak and boots that granted him superpowers in a robbery gone wrong. It turns out these items actually belonged to a pretty powerful demon, and their superpowers transferred to him. Oops.
Naturally, Robbins used his new abilities to climb the ranks in New York City’s underground. He managed to do this while also hosting the demon Dormammu and learning how to channel his magic (we love a multitasking king).
Marvel fans might recognize The Hood from the 2025 series Ironheart, where he featured as a main antagonist. The Hood has also interacted with Daredevil and Iron Man in the comics, who are both already in the game.
We first got a glimpse of The Hood in Marvel Rivals’ Season 9 trailer, where he appeared in a ‘post-credits scene’ of sorts at the end.
On July 16, 2026, fresh leaks emerged from several reputable Marvel Rivals accounts with new information about The Hood. Many of these revelations originate from @RivalsAssembled and @X0X_LEAKS, which are generally reputable accounts that have provided correct information in the past.

The new leaks allegedly reveal The Hood’s role, abilities, and official design. They showcase the Hero with a scarlet hooded cape, a blue suit, and bright red growths on his arm. He has tan skin and dark, wavy hair. The Hood also carries two pistols and wears a mysterious bracelet with a red gem.
In addition, The Hood is now showing up in-game (well, not completely). Players have spotted him in Team-Up icons and graphics files.
‼️FIRST LOOK AT THE HOOD COMING IN SEASON 9.5 He will be a 2 STAR difficulty Vanguard

The leaks indicate that The Hood will be a Vanguard hero. This means he is essentially a tank. Vanguards are responsible for holding the frontline in teamfights, taking space, and protecting squishier allies. Marvel Rivals fans are pretty excited about this possible role, since the game is known for having an overabundance of DPS Duelists on its roster and Vanguards are in relatively short supply.
X0X_LEAKS confirmed The Hood’s role by datamining: he is reportedly also classed as a Vanguard in the game‘s files. The Hood is a two-star difficulty character, so he is decently easy for lower-rank players to test out.

Since we’ve now seen The Hood’s weapons, it’s reasonable to assume some of his abilities will involve his dual guns. @X0X_LEAKS seems to support this theory with a post containing quotes about them:
“When I signed up with Oblivion, he upgraded my arsenal. Suddenly, my handgun could shoot rounds poppin’ with his power. […], they obliterate everything in their path…” “He may have given me the power, but he ain’t the one callin’ the shots. I am. And I’m gonna make sure no one forgets it!”
The Hood’s other powers probably connect to his demonic contract. He is skilled with occult magic. Notably, he has invisibility and teleportation skills in existing lore. He can also levitate and transform into a demon form.
The Hood will have a team-up ability with new Season 9 Strategist Jubilee. This is already coded into the game, but gives some more information about the mysterious hero.
The team-up is called Hellfire Sparks. Its current description is:
Essentially, this mechanic lets Jubilee have some fun DPSing while also enabling crit powers and enhancing her vampiric lifesteal.
Marvel Rivals has not yet confirmed The Hood’s exact release date, and it is subject to change if there are any unforeseen circumstances. However, the Hero will likely arrive with the Season 9.5 update, which is scheduled for Friday, August 7, 2026.
