What happened with the ZynX wrist injury?
The ZynX wrist injury first flared up late in Pacific Stage 1. With two games left, Gen.G pulled him and called up Global Academy player Park “KiTae” Ki-tae. He looked recovered afterward. Then he played eight matches through the team’s EWC Pacific Qualifier run, where Gen.G fell short of the event.
Behind the scenes, it stayed fragile. Once the pain started, Gen.G cut his scrim time and kept him to official EWC matches only. Still, the wrist got worse. After the staff checked with several doctors, they agreed he should rest the arm fully.
How does this reshape the Gen.G roster?
Gen.G shuffled roles all year. Karon, a former Controller of the year in Pacific, moved to Sentinel. Meanwhile, rookie Initiator Ash slid onto Controller. The team looked steadiest with a clear setup. t3xture took Duelist with the odd Chamber game, Ash ran Neon, and Karon held Controller. ZynX, for his part, anchored Sentinel.
Much of the churn traced back to Lakia. The veteran returned as a lifelong Initiator and took the IGL job. Since the Munchkin years, though, Gen.G had handed that seat to Controller players. So the org has already moved on, parting with Lakia at the start of July. Between his exit and ZynX’s absence, Gen.G now carry two open spots. Most likely, they need a Duelist and a Sentinel or Controller.
