A new collab could turn Fortnite into Night City as Cyberpunk Edgerunners takes over the game. Let’s recap everything we know so far.
On August 20, 2026, Fortnite launched into its brand-new Chapter 7 Season 4 update. The title’s new theme, Override, focuses on classic games as they ‘hack’ into Fortnite’s mainframe and add their iconic features to the mix. Persona, Kingdom Hearts, Sonic, and Tetris have already hopped on the Battle Bus. League of Legends (with an Ahri-themed collab) and Five Nights at Freddy’s are rumored to be arriving next.
Now, the Cyberpunk franchise will pop up in Fortnite as a collab. Specifically, the update will focus on the iconic Cyberpunk Edgerunners series. The show follows cybernetic edgerunner David Martinez and mysterious hacker Lucy. It’s based on Cyberpunk 2077, which has become a classic game in its own right and earned significant praise from players.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was extremely successful after its launch in 2022. Viewers noted its visually rich animation, compelling storyline, and strong soundtrack (I Really Want to Stay at Your House is a certified gamer classic). Its bittersweet and tragic ending became a mainstay in the year’s Instagram and TikTok edits.
Originally, the Fortnite x Cyberpunk collab was just a leak from several Epic Games partner accounts. Now, Epic Games has reportedly confirmed the rumors, and the studio has also given players an idea of what to expect.
The Cyberpunk Edgerunners x Fortnite collab will reportedly include several weapons, like:
The Dual-Handed rifle takes inspiration from Rebecca’s weapons in the series. That and the submachine gun are pretty self-explanatory. The Monowire is a bit more confusing: dataminer @Wensoing claims “it will be a mix of the Grapple Glove (swinging) and Grapple Blade (melee attacks).”
Of course, the community also wants to see Fortnite skins for the universe’s most memorable characters. These aren’t confirmed yet, but it’s easy to imagine David Martinez speedrunning through the Fortnite island in his iconic yellow jacket, and Lucy’s bright rainbow hairstyle could be fun alongside Season 4’s colorful atmosphere.
