And they say chivalry is dead… but is it really? On October 29, we finally got an answer. Doomfist is back in a new Overwatch cinematic called ‘In the Wolf’s Mouth,’ and he had a rematch with Vendetta. Plus, there’s a free New Evolution skin for all players. Let’s recap.
After leaving Doomfist’s fate up in the air with previous lore drops, Overwatch just released a new cinematic that puts him back in the Talon spotlight.
In thhe past, we saw Vendetta take over Talon control, sending Doomfist plummeting. The newcomer brought Overwatch into a new, more aggressiv era, with flashy swordplay and fast-paced dives. The fresh ‘In the Wolf’s Mouth’ cinematic lets Doom and Vendetta settle their differences once and for all, determining Talon’s future.
The film opens with Sojourn, Tracer, and Winston attacking Vendetta’s forces. Vendetta then fights Sojourn one on one, but Doomfist cuts in. He has a new weapon thanks to Doctrine, and the fight turns into an intense duel.
Doomfist wins in a clear victory. The ending sets up a new balance of power in the Overwatch universe.
After Vendetta pushed Doomfist out, Talon shifted its strategies. Doomfist waited in the shadows, ready to reclaim his status. The story has built toward this rematch ever since. New Support hero, Doctrine, ties it all together. Doomfist broke him out of the Grímsvötn prison, and their shared past is part of the plot.
In real life, Overwatch also ran a poll asking fans to pick Team Vendetta or Team Doomfist. After thousands of votes, it seems Doom remains the community’s favorite.
As part of the new storyline, Doomfist gets a makeover. His cinematic art is becoming his fully canon design. Now, he wears a bright red and black sash with a gold belt. Doom’s gauntlet is upgraded with flashing red accents, and he has a fresh bearded hairstyle.
This skin is called New Evolution Doomfist. It’s also completely free to all players: you don’t have to pay any Overwatch Coins or other premium currency to unlock it!
And yes, if you want the old Doomfist skin back, you can still equip it from your Hero Gallery.
