Earlier this year, Fortnite confirmed the game will have a collab with the horror movie Obsession. The film, directed by Curry Barker and starring Michael Johnston and Inde Navarette, became one of the year’s most successful. Viewers followed unassuming protagonist Bear as he used a One Wish Willow to date his unattainable crush, Nikki, but quickly realized his immoral decision would cost him more than he thought.
Obsession earned critical recognition for its strong acting and uncanny vibes. Now, Epic Games is bringing its characters into the Battle Royale battlefield, and leakers say a Nikki skin is on the way. Here’s everything we know.
Fortnite’s Obsession partnership is part of its Fortnitemares event, which occurs every fall and celebrates a spooky, scary atmosphere. It already features a themed sprite, with hints of more features to come. So far, we’ve seen some major events:
The One Wish Willow just arrived in Fortnite as a sprite. It lets you steal other players’ sprites after you elimate them, and push enemies away when they damage you. However, the sprite is a bit possessive. If you remove it from your inventory, it will mark you on the map for all other players to see.
Nikki’s actress, Inde Navarette, is a gamer. She is well known among the film’s fanbase for her twitch streams, and also collects vintage game memorabilia. Now, Fortnite leakers say we are also getting an Obsession bundle with a Nikki skin and more items from the movie. It’s important to note that Epic Games hasn’t confirmed this yet.
Fortnite fans originally saw the idea as a fan concept, created by @DEVINK_official on X. The idea featured a Nikki skin, a One Wish Willow Back Bling, and other nods to the film. It received tons of interaction and went viral, so it’s reasonable to assume Epic Games might have taken note.
That said, the new Nikki skin leaks arrive from @HYPEX and @ShiinaBR, both Epic Games partners and generally reputable sources. ShiinaBR said there would be a Fortnite x Obsession collab, while HYPEX went into more detail on what exactly is in the bundles.
Another point supporting the collab being possible is HYPEX’s discovery that Fortnite Battle Royale and Festival now have an upgraded ‘Animated Blood’ ESRB rating. This could refer to the new Nurse skin, but it’s more likely Fortnite might be preparing to release a horror-inspired skin. There are several scenes in the Obsession movie where Nikki’s character has blood splatters on her.
HYPEX claims that Fortnite will release an official Nikki bundle with multiple cosmetics and a skin. Reportedly, this would include:
HYPEX says the emote uses a prop and has a special animation for the Nikki skin. Could this prop be the One Wish Willow? Epic has already confirmed that the item is in the game, since it appeared with the Obsession sprite in the trailer.
Since Epic hasn’t confirmed the Obsession Nikki Fortnite skin bundle, we don’t know a release date yet. However, fans are speculating it could arrive before the end of Fortnitemares, or sometime before November 1.
It’s also entirely possible the collab could stay limited to the Obsession sprite, or that the Nikki bundle would release sometime in the far future.
