According to new leaks, Chapter 7: Season 4 could be one of Fortnite’s most collab-heavy seasons yet. Players can expect cameo appearences from plenty of classic game franchises, with Sonic, Five Nights at Freddy’s, and Persona among them. Let’s recap everything we know so far.

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4: Release Date

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 is releasing on Thursday, August 20, 2026. It arrives right after Season 3 wraps up with the Unstable live event. This is one of the last seasonal releases of Chapter 7. It will pave the way for major updates in Chapter 8.

Override Classic Game Theme

On August 10, 2026, Fortnite’s official X.com account launched an official theme reveal for the Season: the key word here is Override. The game also teased this update on its Discord server, adding a mysterious channel. This included some glitchy text:

“All systems nominal.
All systems n0m1n4l.
4ll 5y5t3m5 n͗ͪ̅̒̈o̵̵m̧̂͆̄̄i̱ͧ͊̀͒ń̊̐ͧ̆ẩ̷̱̩l̳͓͈͑̓
ERROR
rebooting as: ???”

It seems like other games are ‘hacking’ into Fortnite’s system in this storyline. While they have the system taken over, it’ll look very different.

Override will bring classic game franchises to the Battle Royale arena. The team is planning plenty of collabs with brands like Sonic, Tetris, and Persona. It’ll have a more lighthearted, action-packed storyline than Season 3, which many netizens felt was pretty laid-back.

New Fortnite x Sonic Collab in Season 4

A Fortnite x Sonic collab teaser has dropped on multiple official channels. This is a partnership with the Japanese studio SEGA, Sonic’s developer. It shows Peely racing around the game’s iconic cliffs, collecting rings. Viewers can see the old-school pixelated grass textures and checkered rocks. There’s also a blue shape rapidly rolling around, which looks like it could be Sonic.

Sonic the Hedgehog’s official X.com account (yes, the big man himself has one) also commented, “This new ‘Fortnite’ Zone feels oddly familiar.” Could this mean some parts of the Fortnite map will transform?

Fortnite Sonic Skin

Leaks and datamined files also point to skins for both Sonic and potentially his rival Eggman. The Sonic teaser trailer seems to confirm this. If you look at the code in the first part of the video, it humorously says Sonic is “breaching containment.” In addition, SEGA’s YouTube channel includes a caption that says:

“Sonic, have you heard of a ‘Fortnite’? Looks like something is coming on August 20! Be prepared!”

Other Season 4 Fortnite Collabs: Tetris, Persona and FNAF (or Minecraft?)

The Fortnite x Sonic trailer may have accidentally revealed another franchise coming to the game. Netizens noticed that the trailer’s clouds are shaped like Tetris blocks. These could tie into a larger Tetris theme, and you’ll probably see them floating around the Fortnite island once the Season launches.

Fortnite is also continuing its Discord channel text drops, and some of them are pointing towards even more potential projects. Basically, there’s an official bot in the server that allows players to test ‘lobby hacks’. These codes won’t actually do anything in-game yet, but players can reportedly use them once the new Season drops. They also contain clues towards new releases.

First, fans spotted a ‘Take Your Heart’ code, which seems like it relates to Persona 5. This means Fortnite could be dropping a Joker skin in Season 4.

It wouldn’t be the first time a large esports community worked with the game. Overwatch opted for a Persona 5 bundle launch in late 2025. The skins also included characters like Panther, Fox, Queen, and Skull.

A ‘Perfect Order’ hack was next. Fans think this refers to Fortnite character Geno, who will be the Season’s main antagonist.

Finally, the Discord community noticed another mysterious message: ‘Survive the Night.’ The community is speculating that this might reference Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF).

This would actually be perfect timing for FNAF to capitalize on the Fortnite hype, since the brand is making big moves. In fact, a real-life Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria restaurant is opening up at the American Dream Mall in New Jersey. The eatery, which went viral, will reportedly launch in 2027. Just make sure you don’t get too close to any of the animatronics there.

However, some players also think this could refer to Minecraft. The blocky building sim also has a key survival theme, and it makes sense that you’d have to ‘survive the night’ in the ol’ reliable dirt hut while creepers lurk outside.

Stay tuned for more Fortnite news.
