The next Marvel Rivals update is one of the biggest changes to the game this year. Let’s recap everything fans should know about Season 10: Butcher’s Blasphemy, including new hero Gorr, the Scarlet Witch rework, and more.

Marvel Rivals Season 10: Butcher’s Blasphemy

Marvel Rivals Season 10 is almost here, and it’s bringing a fresh wave of content to the hero shooter as it closes out Season 9: The Mystery of Thebes. The update adds the roster’s 54th hero (Gorr the God Butcher), a full competitive rank reset, and a brand new Battle Pass, along with balance changes and other surprises NetEase has yet to fully reveal. Plus, there’s a big Scarlet Witch rework coming soon. With a “Butcher’s Blasphemy” theme, this looks like one of the biggest updates of the year. Let’s recap everything players can expect.

When is the Marvel Rivals Season 10 Release Date?

Marvel Rivals Season 10: Butcher’s Blasphemy will release on Friday, September 11, 2026. The new launch should begin at around 9 AM UTC.

Gorr the God Butcher is set to join Marvel Rivals when Season 10 launches. His arrival marks the roster’s 54th hero and one of the most anticipated additions of the new season. Gorr is an alien who experienced a tragic past and has a thirst for vengeance. He’s called the “god butcher” since his prayers were never answered, so he made it his mission to hunt down MCU dieties as revenge. Thor is one such character he has a comic-book connection to.

What are Gorr’s Abilities?

  • All-Black Necrosword
  • Black Berserker Minions that he can command to target enemies
  • Ultimate: All-Black Necrosword becomes the Annihilablade, dealing extra damage and automatically commanding all minions to the targets.

In Marvel lore, Gorr has the All-Black Necrosword, a weapon that can shift shape into a scythe. He’ll use this in-game, too. Gorr will probably have a brawler and poke playstyle built around mobility and close-range pressure. He can also summon Black Berserker minions after landing kills, adding a unique dynamic.

What Role is Gorr in Marvel Rivals?

Gorr the God Butcher is a Marvel Rivals Duelist. This means he’ll be a character focused on fighting enemies, hunting down squishy characters, and making plays.

New Skins

Plenty of new cosmetics are dropping in Season 10. The Pajama Party set is one of the most highly anticipated. It’ll feature the game’s heroes in cute sleepytime outfits. You’ll be counting Jeffs instead of counting sheep while falling asleep.

New Events: Jeff’s Dream Eater and Jeff’s Superstar Seeking

To match the Pajama Party theme, Marvel Rivals is adding two Jeff-centered events. Players who participate can grab exclusive cosmetics, skins, and rewards.

The Jeff’s Dream Eater and Jeff’s Superstar Seeking events will go live on Thursday, September 17.

Galacta’s Gift Returns

Galacta’s Gift is also coming back on September 24, so players can earn Costume Coins and swap them for items.

College Student Perks

Marvel Rivals has offered collegiate perks for a long time. To get these items, all you have to do is verify your college student status and connect it to your in-game account.

In Season 10, the free rewards are changing. A new rotation will give collegiate players access to a fresh skin pool. Most of these are usually paid cosmetics, so don’t miss out if you’re eligible. The offer is great to help encourage esports involvement and incentivize a younger playerbase to learn the game.

Balance Changes

Marvel Rivals has quietly been keeping tabs on the meta throughout Season 9, gathering data and observing which heroes perform. As a result, the team is making more adjustments in Season 10 than almost ever before. In the Season 10 Dev Vision, they stated that “about 70%” of the roster will see balance changes.

So far, we know that balance updates will focus on:

  • Adjusting existing team-ups and changing team-ups overall
  • Nerfing Magneto, Thing, and Hood
  • Buffing Captain America, Rogue, Devil Dinosaur, Emma Frost, and Deadpool
  • Making Vanguards more mobile to better harass enemy backlines
  • Removing Black Cat invincibility frames, but also buffing her to compensate
  • Nerfing Winter Soldier, Elsa Bloodstone, Black Widow and Magik
  • Buffing Star-Lord, Namor, Iron Fist, Wolverine, and Psylocke
  • Adding a Scarlet Witch rework
  • Nerfing all Strategists by making Ultimate farming harder
  • Nerfing Cloak and Dagger and Mantis
  • Buffing Jeff, Loki, and White Fox

Big Scarlet Witch Rework

Scarlet Witch is getting a huge rework in Marvel Rivals Season 10, which is basically a major overall buff. Here’s a quick summary, but you can also check out our in-depth article on this if you want more info:

  • Damaging enemies now adds a Chaos Mark.
  • Damaging Chaos Marked enemies adds Overhealth to Scarlet Witch.
  • Scarlet can damage multiple Chaos Marked enemies at once with her Primary Fire.
  • Scarlet has a new Scarlet Hex AOE ability.
  • Scarlet Witch Ultimate now deals damage over time during its wind-up phase.

Ranked Ban Changes

Competitive bans will look a lot different in Season 10. The devs are changing the ban and reveal order between teams. “Teams will decide which heroes to ban via a voting system,” the devs say. “You cannot double-ban the same hero.” So, to clarify, double bans are being removed. All banned heroes will be unavailable for both teams throughout the match.
