Marvel Rivals is about to get its biggest co-op mode yet. Path to Doomsday: Avengers Endgame puts 50 players against Thanos and his army. It arrives in Season 10.5, alongside plenty of Halloween skins and other spooky scary festivities.
Let’s recap the release date, how the mode works, and how Thanos fits in in a quick guide.
The mode is part of Marvel Rivals Season 10.5. Season 10.5 launched on October 9, and it is the mid-season update for Season 10. Since it’s in the middle of October, it has an extra focus on Halloween and features themed skins and events.
Season 10 started on September 11, when Gorr the God Butcher entered the game. Season 10.5 does not add a hero, making it the first major update in the game’s history without a new playable character. The Thanos PvE mode is the main feature instead.
Season 10.5 runs from October 9 to November 13, 2026. After that, Season 11 will follow.
The official announcement says the Path to Doomsday Avengers: Endgame mode arrives on October 22, 2026. That is the date NetEase and Marvel Games gave for the next phase after Infinity War. It lands less than two weeks after the season launches.
Thanos is one of Marvel’s most iconic villains. He features heavily in the MCU, specifically in the Avengers’ films. Fans love his personality and ruthless quest for power, but they also appreciate the countless memes that spawned from his appearances.
Marvel Rivals’ most recent story arc loops in Thanos’ quest for power with the Path to Doomsday arc. This event series walks through the Avengers films on the way to the next big movie. So far it has covered Avengers Assemble, Age of Ultron, Infinity War, and Endgame, all leading to Avengers: Doomsday, which will release on December 18.
To build up the hype, Season 10.5 is bringing in two new game modes. They match two of these films. During both events, Times Square will host interactive activities players can join, too.

This mode launched on October 9. Twelve players form six teams of two. They pick from 13 heroes who appeared in the Avengers films, and face off in 2v2 matches set in Wakanda.
Between rounds, players choose random cards to upgrade abilities and stats. That means every match produces different builds. Each team also gets a random Infinity Stone with a powerful ability.
The next event phase features Thanos as a main boss. In the Avengers: Endgame PvE mode, players will join together to fight Thanos’ army. It’s a group effort instead of a battle between two teams.
Since this is a PvE event, there are no ranks. It is a good fit if you want to play with friends and skip the pressure.
First, 50 players fight through waves of Thanos’ alien army. After they win, they will have to face Thanos himself to secure the Infinity Gauntlet. That setup mirrors the final battle in Avengers: Endgame. Fans of the film should feel right at home.
So far, here’s what Marvel and NetEase have shared about the event:
The Thanos PvE mode will probably have rewards for players, but Marvel Rivals hasn’t confirmed this yet.
We got our first glimpse of Thanos in a Season 11.5 Dev Vision video from the Marvel Rivals team. The Thanos shown in the Dev Vision video follows his movie design, Infinity Gauntlet included. He leads an alien army.
Although Thanos appears in Marvel Rivals during the Avengers: Endgame PvE mode, he is not a playable character. You can’t select him on your hero roster, and he only pops up as a boss battle that players have to defeat.
So, to recap:
The Thanos mode is one part of a busy season. The update also expands the 18 vs 18 Annihilation mode and adds the Alchemax Headquarters map. Halloween events and costumes are on the way too. Check out our main Season 11.5 roadmap guide here, and our costume guide.
