This will be Season 9’s first major patch, arriving after a significant Black Widow rework and completely overhauled Team-ups. While the new Team-Up abilities brought some exciting synergies to the roster, they also introduced a handful of bugs. NetEase is using this patch to clean things up while adding new events, skins, and a nostalgic battle pass rerun for good measure. Let’s walk through everything players should know.
We know, we know, the Patch Notes are important. That said, the Marvel Rivals community always shows up in full force for the game’s skins, so let’s quickly summarize the July 16 patch’s cosmetic list first.
One of the update’s most anticipated drops includes “Jeff the Dinosaur” Devil Dinosaur, a skin that makes him twin with Jeff the Land Shark. Players can grab it from an in-game bubble-popping event.

The full skin list includes:
Much of this update focuses on improving visual clarity during matches. The developers noted that combat had gotten a little chaotic with all the new Team-Up effects flying around the screen, so they went through and toned down the visual noise across a long list of abilities.

Jubilee’s entire base ability kit got a visual pass. Marvel Rivals devs also adjusted a wide range of Team-Up abilities, including:
The studio mentioned that dozens of other Team-Up effects were quietly polished too, even though they didn’t list every single one. For a full list, check out Marvel Rivals’ official Patch Notes here.
Fashion divas will appreciate the brand-new Van Dyne Couture event. This limited-time drop includes an Event Battlepass with several skins:

Notably, the Magneto skin is completely free. All others require a Premium event pass purchase. This event runs from July 16 through August 13, 2026.
Alongside that, the Chrono-Rush event is winding back the clock and reopening for the weekend, staying active until the season wraps up.
The dev team also fixed several bugs that were causing player issues:
For the first time ever, Marvel Rivals is bringing an old Battlepass back to the game. Players who missed the Season 3 Battle Pass, Power of the Phoenix, can grab it during a limited-time return. Users will access the Battlepass through the Battle Pass Nexus at the Reality Link Point.
The Season 3 Battlepass rerun will span from Thursday, July 16 to Thursday, July 30, 2026. The set launches at 9 AM PST. Here’s a quick timezone conversion for players in other locations:
This gives players roughly two weeks to grab any rewards, cosmetics, or hero content they missed during the original Season 3 run.
Marvel Rivals Season 9 has more coming in the next few months. Players can look forward to the Egyptian-themed Thebes map arriving on July 24. Next, the Path to Doomsday PvE mode themed around Avengers: Age of Ultron drops on July 31. There is also a steady stream of movie-tied skins for characters like Spider-Man, Hulk, and Scarlet Witch. Some of these relate to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which drops on July 31.
Once Season 9 wraps up on August 7, Season 9.5 takes over and brings The Hood, also known as Parker Robbins, into the game as the next playable hero. The Hood will probably take on the Vanguard role, though NetEase hasn’t confirmed his full kit yet. Since Season 9 already reworked the Team Up system and gave Black Widow a fresh set of abilities, Season 9.5 will likely build on those changes rather than introduce another sweeping overhaul. More details should surface as the mid-season update gets closer.
