Players are noticing that Lifeweaver has been disabled in all Overwatch queues. Here’s a quick recap on the situation, including everything we know.

Is Lifeweaver Disabled in Overwatch?

As of August 21, 2026, at around 1:00 Eastern Time, Lifeweaver has been temporarily disabled in Overwatch. Players are noticing that he isn’t appearing on the Hero Select screen. Currently, he is unavailable in every game mode, so you can’t play him in Competitive ranked, swiftplay, 6v6 or any role queues. The Support character is a relatively common pick, and has high impact in teamfights.

As of 1:30 PM Eastern Time, Overwatch has not yet commented on the situation.

Why Was Lifeweaver Disabled?

We don’t know yet why Lifeweaver was disabled. However, the decision was likely due to some kind of bug or tech issue. This isn’t uncommon to see in FPS titles: VALORANT has previously disabled Agents like Cypher, Neon, Reyna and Waylay. Typically, it occurs because one of their abilities interacts with the environment or another Agent in a way that fundamentally makes the game unfair.

In theory, the issue could be something to do with Lifeweaver’s Life Grip, which moves other Heroes around on the map. His petal platform could be another possibility. However, since Overwatch’s Heroes have so many different Perk options, it’s difficult to make an exact diagnosis until we get further info.

When Will Lifeweaver Be Re-Enabled in Overwatch?

According to reputable leak account and Overwatch platform @OW_Cavalry, “there’s currently no ETA for a fix.” This means we don’t know when Lifeweaver will return to the game.

In other titles, such as the aforementioned VALORANT issues, character disables can span wide ranges of time. Some are fixed within several hours, others in a day. However, if the bug is severe enough, it could last weeks.
