How to Get the Free Jimothy Sidekick in Fortnite

Fortnitemares is bringing all players a special treat, but they have to do a trick first. If you complete an in-game quest, you can get a free Jimothy Fortnite sidekick. Plus, there are new Dumpster Dive raccoon sprites. Here’s a recap.

Jimothy is in Fortnite Now: Sidekick and ‘Dumpster Dive’ Sprite

These past few months, an unexpected superstar had his time to shine. Jimothy, a raccoon from Seattle, captured the world’s hearts as he waddled through yards and snatched up snacks. Netizens love his cute, extra-chonky look (which is from a rare genetic condition) and his plucky determination.

This Fortnitemares, Epic Games announced a surprise: Jimothy has officially arrived to Battle Royale FPS Fortnite. He is already in the game after an October 1 release date, and players can unlock him for free.

Yes, you heard that right: Jimothy is completely free to add to your Fortnite locker. He’s a Fortnite Sidekick, so you can equip him in-game, flex him to other players in your lobby, and interact with him on the Fortnite island.

Jimothy also has an emote, where he proudly digs a flower out of a trash bin.

What Do the Dumpster Dive Fortnite Sprites Do?

There are also adorable little ‘Dumpster Dive’ Fortnite Sprites. When players use these, “Food provides bonus healing. Find food when jumping out of hiding props, and a small chance when opening containers. Find better food with each Level Up!”

The Sprites have a chibi raccoon shape and come in four colors:

• Original Dumpster Dive Sprite
• Gold
• Loot Hacker
• Bounty Hunter
• Trick or Treat

The update is part of Chapter 7 Season 4 Override, which partners Fortnite up with classic game franchises. We’ve already seen collabs with Sonic, Persona, and more brands. Fortnitemares, the game’s yearly Halloween event, is expanding that with even more horror games. Five Nights at Freddy’s (FNAF) is the most recent addition, with skins for Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, and Chica popping up in-game.

Getting the Jimothy sidekick is super easy. It’s also completely free, so you won’t have to pay any V-Bucks to add him to your Fortnite locker.

All you have to do is extract any Dumpster Dive Sprite once. Like all Sprites, you can find the Jimothy sprites anywhere on the Fortnite island when you’re in a game. After finding a sprite, you need to pick it up and bring it to an Extraction Point. Once you do this, you will complete the “Extract a Sillly Little Guy” quest. The Jimothy sidekick will immediately appear in your Item Locker. You can equip him from your inventory and bring him right into the game.
