TenZ Announces He is LFT: VCT 2027 Pro Comeback Arc?

VALORANT pro TenZ retired in 2024, shifting to a full-time role as a content creator. Now, two years later, TenZ might be returning: the ex-Sentinels star announced he is LFT. What does this mean for VALORANT esports? Let’s recap.

TenZ Makes LFT Announcement

Tyson ‘TenZ’ Ngo is the household name of VALORANT esports. Since making the transition from Counter-Strike in 2020, he has been active in the title’s esports circuit from its start.

With time spent on Cloud9, T1, and most famously Sentinels, TenZ amassed a massive fanbase. Sentinels’ victory at the first-ever VALORANT Masters Reykjavík 2021 skyrocketed him to fame, and the org continued to be competitive in North American VALORANT esports. SEN later won Masters Madrid 2024, also placing 4th in VALORANT Champions 2024.

After concluding his VCT 2024 season, TenZ announced his retirement from competitive play. He explained to his fans that he wanted to end his career on a high, halting the run after another Masters trophy. This ushered in a retirement era, where TenZ shifted fully to streaming and content creation. He also moved to T1, departing Sentinels after over three years.

Now, however, there’s a plot twist. TenZ just posted on his official Twitter account, stating he is officially looking for a team.

We don’t have much more information: the entire post is literally just ‘LFT.’ However, it’s a massive step for TenZ, and teams are already sliding into his replies (and maybe his DMS).

What Does This Mean for VALORANT Esports?

TenZ’ comeback to competitive play would be a big change, returning one of VALORANT’s most well-known esports names to the big stage. Americas VALORANT rose to prominence once again this year, with all four Champs 2026 qualifying teams from the region making Playoffs. NA in particular is notoriously at a disadvantage in most FPS and MOBAs, so the locale’s fanbase is seeing a resurgence in competitiveness. TenZ’s return would be another big moment for NA VAL.

What team would TenZ be joining? As of right now, there’s no way to tell. That said, Sentinels’ leadership have previously commented that TenZ is welcome back to the roster whenever he wishes. CEO Rob Moore has explored the possibility of a TenZ return and stated, “”Regardless of the roster construction, if TenZ shows up at my door and wants to play, he also has a spot on Sentinels, for life.”

Is TenZ Coming Out of Retirement?

We don’t know yet if TenZ is locking in for the VCT 2027 season. It’s entirely possible he could just represent a new org as a content creator again. However, this is the most convincing indicator of a comeback arc we’ve seen yet.

TenZ’s influencer presence is likely another huge draw for many prospective teams. Besides tournament winnings, much of the average esports org’s revenue comes from sponsorships, content, and brand deals. This is why we’ve seen a major shift of pros becoming content creators, and teams opening their scrims and practices up to the public.
