Get These Free VALORANT Skins Now Before They Change

In VALORANT’s upcoming Patch, free Agent pistol skins are changing. They’ll be harder to get, so let’s recap everything we know and how players can earn them before 13.06 launches.

Free VALORANT Agent Gear Skins are Changing

VALORANT‘s Agent Progression track system has long been an easy way for players to get free skins. Each character has a custom pistol, which matches their aesthetic and in-game playstyle. For example, the Jett Sheriff has swirling wind art, the Omen Ghost is black with bright blue accents, and the Viper Shorty shines with a toxic neon green.

Usually, all you have to do to unlock these skins is just unlock an Agent’s contract and keep playing to gain XP. However, all of that is changing in VALORANT Patch 13.06.

Riot explained this in the 13.05 Patch Notes:

“Heads up, gamers! With the release of Patch 13.06 […] we’ll be revamping the Agent Gear system and the way you unlock items on that progression track. You will still keep the gear you’ve already earned, and you’ll continue to use Kingdom Credits to unlock future gear. But after Patch 13.06, each piece of gear will be tied directly to how much you play the associated Agent. So if you’re currently grinding for Agent Gear on any Agents you don’t usually play, now’s your chance to lock in and get those unlocks.”

This means that instead of just using general XP to progress the Agent Contract, you’ll have to actually play the specific Agent to unlock the rewards. If you want any Agent-specific skins, but you don’t main that Agent, you should get started on their contract now!

VALORANT Patch 13.06 Release Date

VALORANT Patch 13.06 will release on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. This means players have until that date to collect the free rewards.

How to Get VALORANT Agent Weapon Skins

Before Patch 13.06, you could unlock VALORANT’s unique Agent weapon skins by activating the Agent Contract and playing to earn XP. This XP appeared in any game mode, and you could play with any Agent. So, for instance, you didn’t have to lock in Fade in your VALORANT games to earn the Fade pistol. You could also use Kingdom Credits to unlock the specific reward tiers you want.

Once Patch 13.06 kicks into effect, you’ll have to actually play and grind XP on each specific Agent to unlock their weapon skins.

What Are Kingdom Credits?

Kingdom Credits are a step above free VALORANT rewards, but they’re not technically premium currency. Mostly, players use Kingdom Credits to skip ahead in event passes or unlock non-premium content. For example, you can use Kingdom Credits to unlock Agents or buy Accessories like sprays in the in-game Shop.

How to Get Kingdom Credits in VALORANT

You can get Kingdom Credits for free in VALORANT by completing in-game Quests. There are Daily Quests and Weakly Quests, and they appear in a drop-down ticker at the top-right of your home screen. Usually, weekly quests grant more Kingdom Credit rewards.

Kingdom Credits are also available sometimes through the Battlepass and other events.
