Overwatch is teasing a new Hero, and they may arrive sooner than fans think. Let’s explore everything to know about the unreleased character, what connection they have to D.Va’s teammate D.Mon, and when they might launch.
Overwatch has been teasing new Heroes throughout 2026. Most recently, fans met Shion, a Duelist with devil horns and Hashimoto history. Blizzard has been building toward these reveals through its year-long Reign of Talon storyline, adding a new hero with every seasonal update. The pattern so far has made the rollout easy to track.
In Blizzard’s Overwatch 2026 Spotlight video, the studio released a silhouette artwork of every Hero arriving this year. In the picture, a large character in the back appears to wear a mecha suit. Netizens are speculating that the new Hero will likely be a Tank. In addition, they may be a character the fanbase is already quite familiar with: D.Va’s fellow pilot D.Mon.

Every Overwatch player knows D.Va, the esports icon turned in-game superhero. D.Mon, real name Yuna Lee, was one of D.Va’s teammates during her time on the MEKA Guardian V esports team. She’s actually been part of the game’s lore for a while, and the two are close friends (hence their matching gamertags). D.Mon is known for being a little more serious, though. She tends to be disciplined and take on leadership roles. In Overwatch’s storyline, D.Va and D.Mon press pause on their esports careers to help fight Omnics in South Korea.
Fans showed plenty of love for D.Mon’s design when the lore dropped. The community has speculated for a while that she might join the Overwatch roster because of her popularity. Reputable leak accounts, such as @NaeriOverwatch and @OWCavalry, have supported the theory as well.

Overwatch has been dropping hints about D.Mon’s arrival for a while now, but a new Easter Egg shows her arrival may be sooner than fans think. In the Busan map, which represents D.Va and D.Mon’s home country South Korea, MEKA has a tactical base. There are several mech suits there for MEKA’s players/Guardians. Players who explore it might notice that D.Mon’s mech, Beast, is missing as of the most recent update. Usually, you can find the mech in the red room right next to D.Va’s. In addition, the area shows signs that MEKA is upgrading one of its mech suits.
Community leaks are saying D.Mon could have some differences from existing Overwatch tanks. Some netizens say she could get a new type of health system (perhaps similar to D.Va’s Defense Matrix), and she will probably have flying mobility that would set her apart from traditional brawlers. She might also have significant crowd control abilities, since her in-game mech has an EMP emitter attached. EMP disrupts signals (think Sombra’s kit) and prevents Hero abilities.
Overwatch has not yet announced an official release date for D.Mon. However, she will likely arrive before the end of 2026, if the game‘s new Hero silhouettes are any indication. If we want to get technical with it, D.Mon’s release will probably align with Season 4, which drops in late August with the mid-year patch. BlizzCon is also coming up on September 12, which would be a great time for the studio to drop such a key reveal.
After the new Tank launches, there are still new characters in the works. Season 5 is expected to introduce an Omnic detective who fights as a Support. Season 6 will also close out the year with a Hero fans think may be Hivemind, a former Talon operative connected to Reinhardt’s past with drone powers.
Maps are getting just as much attention as heroes this year. Iceland hosts the second new map coming to Overwatch in 2026. On top of the new content, Blizzard has plans for BlizzCon 2026 in Anaheim, California this September. The event will probably have plenty of important reveals. Skin collectors can look out for a new Ultra rarity tier.
