Fortnite is Letting Players Vote on the FNCS 2027 Format
Next year, Epic Games is doing something a little different to get players involved with Fortnite‘s competitive circuit. Fortnite has just announced that players will pick the Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) Battle Royale game mode in 2027.
In an announcement post, the title clarified: “Duos or Trios: you decide.” Fortnite encouraged esports fans to hop on and vote for their favorite squad size.
Epic Games reportedly will not announce the results until the Fortnite Global Championship, which adds an extra element of surprise to the mix. The FNGC will occur on September 26 and September 27, giving the votes a two-week period to settle.
Is Duos or Trios Mode Better in Fortnite Battle Royale?
This is kind of a trick question: Duos and Trios are very different, and both have key advantages that may make players prefer them. Duos and Trios are a nice middle ground between solo games and squads.

Duos and trios in Fortnite Battle Royale both let players team up, but the squad size changes how each match plays out. Duos puts two players together against the rest of the lobby. Communication and coordination are simpler, since there’s only one teammate you have to work with. This mode rewards one on one chemistry and works well for players who want a smaller squad experience without needing a full group of friends. That said, you’re more reliant on your own carry potential and it’s harder to loot and revive teammates.
Fortnite Trios: Pros and Cons
Trios, on the other hand, adds a third player into the mix. Teams in this mode generally have more firepower and more map control. With three players working together, squads can split up to loot faster. They also cover more angles in fights and revive teammates more easily during intense battles. The extra player means more chaos, though, since trios often lead to bigger, messier gunfights compared to duos.

To cast your vote for the FNCS 2027 Battle Royale mode, follow these steps:
- Launch Fortnite.
- Go to the Legends Landing Custom Game.
- Here, you can vote in-game once daily.
