If you’ve been refreshing your timeline waiting for a D.Mon hotfix, today’s your lucky day. Overwatch has just rolled out changes to reduce her damage and make her much easier to defeat: here’s a recap.
D.Mon arrived in Overwatch on August 11, 2026, as part of Season 4: Heroes of Busan. She had resided in the Overwatch lore for a while as Yuna Lee, the leader of South Korea’s MEKA Squad and a former squadmate of D.Va. As the game’s 53rd hero and 15th Tank, D.Mon pilots a mech called Beast and fights up close with her Plasma Saber. Overwatch fans were extremely excited for her arrival, as they got a second MEKA pilot to play, fresh lore, and a sword-and-shield option for the Tank role.
Blizzard has already made some basic adjustments to D.Mon’s kit, smoothing out bugs and switching up some immediately obvious issues. However, the studio has now taken things a step further.
On September 17, 2026, Overwatch made meta-impacting changes to D.Mon with a hotfix. The difference is quite significant. Her armor, damage, and survivability all take a big tumble.
Here are the exact changes:
As soon as D.Mon launched in Overwatch, she immediately dominated the title’s meta. She has a heavy damage output and can use an extremely aggressive playstyle. D.Mon combines a reliable frontline presence with the ability to make game-changing plays, so she’s already become a pretty common pick in all ranks. Players in low elo especially have had a hard time countering her.

If you’ve been playing these past couple weeks, you’ve probably noticed that D.Mon has become an extremely common ban. This isn’t the first time an Overwatch Hero has released and immediately become a meta mainstay. We saw the same thing happen when Mauga arrived, and Overwatch veterans will also remember the unfortunate Brigitte era.
D.Mon’s hotfix will probably refresh the tank pool, making her less of a requirement for meta comps. Since the tank is the ‘cornerstone’ of most team comps and often determines most of the hero pool (for example, during the Mauga meta, Kiriko, Ana and Zenyatta were the dominant supports), the rest of the team will benefit as well.
