McDonalds is Selling Kiriko-Themed Donuts in an Overwatch Collab, and There Are Free Rewards

The newest Overwatch collab is encouraging gamers to go on real-life side quests. Overwatch x McDonalds reportedly adds a Kiriko-themed donut to the menu, and participants can unlock a free emote. Here’s a recap.

Overwatch has had plenty of successful collabs in its history. For example, LE SSERAFIM, Cowboy Bebop, and Persona have all appeared as surprise guests. The title‘s next partnership is a real-life effort, though: an Overwatch x McDonalds collab lets gamers get free rewards for just eating food. Plus, it features the game’s next-gen golden child, Kiriko.

Yes, you heard that right: you’re allowed to eat in your gaming chair and leave crumbs on your mousepad just this once. Streamer and content creator @bunnimoniOW was surprised to notice a limited-time Kiriko-themed dessert on the menu at their local McDonalds restaurant.

The Kiriko Donut is a sugary sweet treat. It seems like it comes in special packaging that shows Kiriko’s kitsune mask. We already know donuts are one of Kiriko’s favorite snacks from her intro cinematic, where she excitedly brings several boxes home for her family. Maybe the Kiriko donuts will look like the rainbow-sprinkled versions in the animation?

Xbox is also helping host the collaboration, and will be holding a ‘side quest event.’ There will reportedly be other Xbox-inspired foods on the Mickey D’s lineup, and a whole host of in-game items players can earn. Halo, Forza Horizon, World of Warcraft, and Fallout 76 are other universes that will make an appearance. It’s a celebration of the studio’s 25th anniversary.

According to @OWCavalry, the partnership is a UK and Ireland exclusive for now. Participants will only be able to get the menu items in that region.

What Rewards are in the Collab?

According to Overwatch Cavalry, completing the McDonalds collab sidequest campaign will unlock a limited-time free item in the game. This is reportedly the ‘Donut Break’ Kiriko emote.
